I got this at a thrift today for $6.99, cleaned it up, and it works like a charm. My heart skipped a beat when I spotted it, this thrift store usually doesn't have very good vacuum stuff, but they have been getting more. For all of you in the VCCC, you will probably be seeing this in St. Louis. The beater bar is in excellent shape with full length brushes. The handle release has a problem where it won't stay up without help.

So strange to see a 'Convertible" handle on a 28.'

If you collect HOOVERS,  you MUST have at LEAST 1  28!  Enjoy!

The handle on this needs some work. It hardly stays upright, and you have to pick it up to move it because the handle release mech doesn't work. Any idea where I can get a proper 28 handle?

I might have an idea on where to get one, let me call a buddy of mine tomorrow and see what he has. :)

Nice find! It's amazing what thrift stores can have sometimes. I wonder how they got the handle to work, Convertibles have the bottom bolt going front to back and this has it going side to side?
