Why do you want to replace it? |

This may sound silly, but I just am not a fan of plastic parts. |

Ah! Just what I was hoping to hear! My FQ has been languishing while I've been trying out other vacuums, but now I realize what a gem it really is. My goal is to fit it up right with parts that won't break and use it as my "daily driver." |

Interesting that the metal cone guard gives better airflow than the plastic ones!Guess will have to "downgrade"? from the plastic to the metal. |

Regarding the date - the AN96, IIRC, dates from the mid-80s through mid-90s, though it'd be hard to narrow down further without a serial number. |

Well, I found the model and serial number under the cap at the top: Model 95x; serial number 0592. There's the same six-number series there as appears on the outer part of the machine: 777887. Can I assume that my Filter Queen dates from May 1992? |
