I usually don't come over to the contemporary side...I'm an all vintage kind of guy. But I couldn't help this purchase. I bought myself a brand new Hoover Guardsman online and it just arrived two days ago. What a machine!

It cleans and performs well. Sounds almost identical to a Convertible.

Dustcup Guardsman

Seeing your vacuum made me think of the Guardsman I saw at the hotel we stayed in for a few days. The hotel Guardsman had a dustcup, and looked to be rather abused. I'd rather have a disposable bag like yours has over the dustcup.

The biggest problem with the hotel's Guardsman was user error. The housekeeper went through the motions of running the sweeper, but she rushed so much that the floors still looked dirty when she finished. There was a clump of hair outside my door during my entire 4-day stay.

I looked at both the dustcup model and this one. And of course, I chose the bagged model and I do not regret it. I read the reviews of the dustcup model and it seems to be messy.
