Nice. My ex-wife had one of those. It got retired to the garage when she insisted I buy a crappy overpriced plastic Kenmore canister. I think it was still in the garage when I left.

Congratulations on purchasing a Discovery II for such a pittance.

The Discovery II was revised several times during its short run as evidenced by these three different model ids: 1500, 1500C, 1572E (to find out which yours is check the name stamp on top of the hood--release the handle assembly to view).

It was Electrolux Corporation's first L-shaped upright and was manufactured from 1986-87 in the same sand/jade colors as the: Model ?/Discovery Plus (1986-87), Model 1521/Diamond Jubilee (1984-87), Model 1453/Deluxe Special (1984-87), Model 2100/Hi-Tech (1985-87), Model 1623/L-E (1985-87), Model CB2000 (1984-87), Models B-9 & 1522/Floor Beautifier (1984-87), and the Turbo Rug Washer (1984-87).

Does yours happen to have the small brush running along the back side of the brush roll opening as the jade-colored PN-6 power nozzle?

These were great machines. In my years repairing vacuums, we saw little problems outside of bellows tearing, and handle catches wearing down. They agitated great, sounded nice, and were low-maintenance. The brush on/off settings were near non-existent in an upright at-the-time, and we take them for granted now. With their cogged belts and top-filling bags, they proved reliable and user-friendly.

I have a couple of my own, and I'll never part with them.
