Finally, I have managed to get round to doing this. I apologize greatly as I promised I would do this three years ago, but have only just got round to doing this. Since then I have managed to get hold of two extra catalogues/leaflets, as you will see.

Just look at the number of bagless vacuums from the 1999 catalogue and compare it to the current catalogue. And I know who and what to blame for that...

Here we go then, with the Argos Catalogue from Spring/Summer 1999.

No problems Citroen, I have a 2004 one as well but it won't fit in the scanner due to the thickness.

If only I was older I would have bought all those Dysons...

Thank you so much. So many great memories, not least the LG Slimax, Electrolux Mondo E, Hoover Arriane & Telios models. Had them all. Would have them all again!

There's still the chance to get the Dyson's new that you so longly desire.

A British made DC07 Standard, brand new in the box http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vintage-vacuum...

A DC04 Absolute Plus that Josh is selling, there's always the best offer if the price is too steep for you http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Dyson-DC04-Abs...

I must admit sebo_fan that there are several vacuums I'd like to buy from there, and just wish that I'd have been old enough at the time to purchase these vacuums instead of some of the 'cleaners' on the market today.

Well..there is one vacuum on there apart from the Vax canisters that were on sale only a few months ago on Argos, i.e making a re-appearance; the Morphy Richards Premiair cylinders. They're pretty good for the money.

Will they still be made in Germany though, as I have heard that they are very good cleaners for the money. Was the 'Ecovac' model on reply 9 made in Germany as well?

I'd love it if there was more vacuum cleaner industry and manufacturing in the UK, I expect that several people on here would like a career in it, especially if the products were up to the standard of times gone by.

Yes both models in reply 9 and 25 are still made and sold in Germany under EIO tags.

The suction dial from one of the 2015 models shows "Made IN Germany" on the dial.

Thanks so much for sharing these, Jacob! Some great memories their.

My sister used to have one of those Goblin Scoot's. Quite awkward to drag around but they were great vacs.

No problems.

suctionselector's profile picture

Glad to have been help and glad you've all enjoyed them.

I have a Scoot 1600 watt model with variable power although it's stuck on high. The size of the hose end means that I currently use it with the bent end off and the hose stuffed into the top of an X1 extension tube, as there was no poles that came with it.

Is there any way of fixing the variable power so it actually changes the speed? And do you know Chris where it was manufactured? Thanks.

The Electrolux 5805 bagless cylinder! Argh! Terrible memories of static shocks from vacuuming the carpet. if you didn't get caught by the extension pole, the static would build up around the tool holder (which sat over your hand) and eventually zap you.

No other vacuum ever did it.

The Hoover Arianne and Telios wasn't any better. For years owners had to put up with the trigger release at the top of the handle. Being sprung release by design required two fingers to release the trigger, it often meant fingers got caught, which was painful.
