People on this forum will probably know that one of my main passions are 240v Pre Tradition Kirbys. I've made several posts about the Kirby Classic III, which I consider to be one of the most beautiful vacuums. Alas, I do not own one as they're reasonably scarce Vacuums. However I have seen a few on eBay, some were too expensive, and the others too far away to collect. However I've found this on eBay, a Classic III that'll offer postage. The problem is it's a complete shambles of a vacuum. No cord, No bag hook, Missing wheel and part of the toe touch control, and the whole front nossel. I might buy it if it stays cheap, and will try to ressurect it using parts from a Tradition I have, that way I can just paint the trim and belt lifter. What do you people think? I need to be careful with money as I'm saving for a Classic 1CR from my friend Adam in the USA

I was thinking of getting that just for the metal fan in it and a few other parts.

Classic III's do come up often, you are probably better off keeping a watch out for a better one. I've got 5 Classic III's at present lol.
That one is so corroded it would be a nightmare to try and polish up.

I agree with James - I would wait for something better. That is one of the worst I have seen for a while. Getting it to a presentable level would be costly & labour intensive. The pitting can run deep into the castings and require the removal of a fair amount of material.

Something better will turn up in time smile

James, would you consider swapping a classic III for an american royal 91000? Hertfordshire isn't all too far from Hampshire I could take some pictures for you?

Sorry Thomas, I'm not interested in the Royal.

My email is in my profile if you want to email and talk about Kirby's.
