I just got this Eureka 5071E today and see that it has the smooth drive wheels. When did they change over to the ribbed wheels? Burt

Eureka drive wheels

These were one of the best self propelled vacs.(A later Eureka had a drive unit on only one rear wheel!)The 'change' to ribbed actually happens when the correct smooth rubber is dried, aged, bumped & worn and breaks away.
Great(&rare)Eureka.Happy Vacuuming.

The self propelled feature makes vacuuming fun

Here's another photo of the 1986 5071 E. It really takes very little effort to vacuum and the 6.7 amp motor is actually quieter than my model 2086A.
