My very good friend, Alex Braun, stopped by the Vacuum Cleaner Museum yesterday. Alex brought two very rare Kenmore vacuums for the collection. Alex is "thinning the herd" before the upcoming VCCC convention - and brought two models I've been lusting after for years.

The first is a Kenmore MagiCord upright from the mid 1960's. It perfectly matches the Magi-Cord shampooer/polisher he gave me several years ago. This was Kenmore's answer to the poorly designed "Dial A Matic" by Hoover. Better designed, and with more features than the Hoover, the Kenmore also featured an automatic cord rewinder. Here's the machine, sitting next to the polisher I got from Alex.

Thanks again Alex for being such a great friend. Dinner (at Colton's Steakhouse) was awesome.

Alex also brought me a Kenmore KenKart that's very rare. It's a round canister on a "Kart". I've wanted this for years, but every time I would go to Alex's house, he'd say "it's staying with me". Well, now that he's downsizing the collection, he gave his St. Louis friends 'first dibs' on machines in his collection. Thanks again Alex. You know I love this one.

I always love seeing what is donated to the museum. Proof that there are still generous, kind hearted people out there!

I'm very blessed to have the friends I do. Most of my friends are also vacuum collectors. I still have life long friends from my time in the VCCC, but a much larger number of them are not 'club members'. We help each other out. Friends will bring vacuums to the museum to be restored (from all over the country). And many friends are always on the lookout for machines that fit into the Museum's collection. After all, the Vacuum Cleaner Museum doesn't just focus on one brand, we are all inclusive of all vacuums. They all fit into the timeline of Vacuum Cleaner History.

I'm still looking forward to visiting!

Maybe this summer.... I'd love to meet another collector (I have only met one, and they were not a diehard collector)
I hate to say I "love" my vacuums but I do. Especially my Rainbow D4 and Fantom Thunder. There is something special in each of them. I'm so impressed with how my Rainbow D4 works that I may buy a refurbished Rainbow E series from a vac shop someday. On a different note, I love old Kenmore canisters. They really are better than their newest models. I have a blue magicord that my uncle saved from the dump for me. It's a little beat but it easily has more power than the new canisters from Kenmore! (And I have used their new canisters) I used to have a beautiful avacado green magicord with fake wood grain trim. I'm still kicking myself for giving it away 4 years ago. Keep showing these amazing finds.

P.S- I love my Green D.A.M but must agree it isn't that great of a vacuum.

I'll have to take a look at min when I get home, but I think its the same one. I'll get some pics too. The only flaw in mine is that it has a replacement plug on the cord, otherwise its in really good condition.
