Hi Everyone!

I just purchased a 2014 model year Filter Queen Majestic from Ebay. I was looking for a good canister with power nozzle and was sick of the cheap garbage from the big box stores. I am so thrilled, so far, with the performance of this machine, and I personally notice a large improvement in indoor air quality, as I'm sensitive to allergies these days.

I do have a question, though. I've always been one to use a natural bristle dusting brush to do my dusting, including walls and blinds. However, the suction is so strong on this vac, even at the lowest motor setting, that I'm finding the dusting brush is being firmly planted most of the time to the surface I'm trying to clean, making it very difficult to move. The ONLY solution I've found so far is to insert an attachment adapter (that came with a Pet Power Paw attachment to allow it to be used on multiple hose diameters that I have drilled holes into to reduce suction) into the hose end and then attach the brush to that. However, it can become a clumsy arrangement, especially in smaller areas. Is there any other suction control I'm missing here? Any other suggestions?

Thank you!

I used to have a Filter Queen and if I am remembering correctly there is no suction relief valve on the hose handle like there is on most other vacuum hoses. You are already using the low speed on the vacuum so I'm not sure what else you could do.

Why not drill some small holes in the main body of the brush? That should reduce the pressure on whatever you are dusting....just a thought.

What I would do in your case is I would buy a Filter Queen straight suction hose. Take it into your local vac shop, have them chop off the end, & put a hose cuff & curved metal handle on in place of the Filter Queen handle. There are plenty of metal handles that have bleeder valves....Eureka canister hose handles come to mind instantly here....I'm sure he could take a used one from a donor hose that's no longer good, or he could always order one from a parts supplier.

Yes, you will have to change hoses for your dusting & any attachments that require the bleeder valve, but it is a solution to your dilemma. And you should be able to use your Filter Queen attachments as well....my local vac shop guy was fiddling around with newer Filter Queen attachments one time, as he got one in for repair that couldn't be saved & was abandoned, so he was saving the parts & wondered about the tools.

Gary / Countryguy: I don't know about you, but I am finding the lack of bleeder valves on hose handles on newer vacs to be VERY annoying!! There are some applications you can reduce the motor speed all you want....such as using a upholstery tool to clean window curtains....but it will still suck right into the tool & you wind up fighting with the vacuum! The ONLY WAY to solve the problem, I have found, is using a bleeder valve. I was considering buying a Simplicity Gusto to add to my collection....Yes, Tom Gasko, I am considering buying a Tacony machine, so don't be shocked!....but the lack of a bleeder valve on the hose gives me second thought. And as much as the Simplicity Wonder looks nice, the fact it is a new design & therefore no aftermarket bags or filters available for it, would make me not consider it yet.

Oh, and one other thing....in my opinion, any canister vacuum with a PN should have a bleeder valve as a STANDARD FEATURE on it's hose handle. Not having one, or having to switch hoses, would be a MAJOR reason for me to reconsider other brands if I saw a canister vac that didn't have it.

I agree with you Rob about bleeder valves on hose handles. That's exactly why the Wonder/Prima has BOTH a bleed valve on the hose handle AND the speed control on the cleaner itself.

I've had my personal Wonder for more than a year now. Mine has the top of the line Power Nozzle with three row extruded aluminum brush roller, dirt sensor, mini electric power nozzle, WOW bare floor tool, etc. The genuine bags are inexpensive compared to most HEPA cloth disposable bags. I don't believe the Hepa exhaust filter will need changing for at least three to five years.

I dont know why...

But FQ DID have a suction adjustor for a brief time in the late 50s,but they discontinued it, same for Compact, the very first C=4 had one too..

FQ hose

As above there was a dark brown braided FQ hose with ring to adjust suction.I think I still have one upstairs.
(By drilling holes in the adapter you have reinvented the Elux suction control for early Mo XXXs.)
