Okay...so this was about 5 years ago...

I wanted some more vacuums, and at that point, my mom said I could get some more. So, I posted in our local newspaper under the "Good Neighbors" section, and a few weeks later, I got about 5 or 6 replies! I was one of the happiest kids ever!

I ended up getting a Kirby Classic and a Kirby Classic Omega (I mentioned that Kirby was my favorite), and a Kirby Sanitronic XII. I got the Classic and Omega to find that neither had their original bags, but were in pretty good shape.

The Sanitronic (I was told) was a demonstration model with all of the attachments. As anyone might expect, I was dreaming of a beautiful shiny Kirby Sanitronic XII with EVERYTHING: demonstration stuff, attachments, Miracle Waxer...you get the idea. However, it was going to cost me all of my $60. But, I figured this would be the coolest vacuum ever in "mint" condition, so I just had to buy it! Well, one day, I got home from school and asked my mom if she picked up the vacuum. She said "Yes, it's in the trunk of the car." So, I hurriedly went to the trunk to find...

A piece of trash. It was a Kirby Sanitronic XII, yes, and it did have a moldy box with all of the attachments, but none of the demonstration stuff. Also, it reeked of mildew, and the entire vacuum looked as though it had been stored in a wet basement for 40 years.

No kidding! I cried!! I was so upset that I wasted my money on this...piece of trash! None the less, I threw out the vacuum a few days later and kept all of the attachments. You see, the vacuum had a DIME-SIZED hole in the fan chamber!! I was so ticked!

Alright...so why am I telling this story? Just look at the link... :-(

Hi James!

Oh...none of my friends at school support my collections, nor do my parents. My brother is slightly interested in my phonograph, though! :-)

Oh, I'd like to get it, yes...but I have several Kirbys to play with in the mean time. For example, I got my DS-80 back together, and it looks and works great! I also got a 519...all original! It looks really good! Oh, and a friend from church is getting me to repair her G-5. Chances are it is just a simple clog...let's hope it is that easy!

Everything here is great! Just been working with the phonograph...recording all of the records...it's a big job!

Too bad about that Sanitronic VII... I wonder if a new fan case would've helped you (part #120056)?

I have a Sanitronic VII that was my Aunt's. She says she has some of the attachments for it, but will have to dig em out of storage. I remember playing with it as a kid at her house and always wanted it, now it's mine!

I like the older Kirbys a lot better design wise than the newer ones, the skinny handle and slim design just looks cool! Too bad you got a bum deal!

Ya know.....sixty dollars is a lot of money----but with such vintages as Sanitronic it is ALWAYS an investment to buy even a doggy one. The motor parts, toe touch control, badge, safety switch. You have a good foundation when you include parts machines.....and clean up is soooo easy! Get some Lysol! Make a beautiful Kirby you can be proud of!
