Hey Guys-

There was a stage in my Childhood where these Hoover Floor Polishers were commonly found. our neighbours on both sides had one each, and so did the one across the street.

Walking through the late 70's early 80's they were still found and used, and then they fell off the face of the earth.

I was extremely fort unite to have met another "collector" if you will, whom Gareth referred me too, in search of a Hoover elite, he saw the man advertised and he parted with the Hoover 5048-it as we swopped out machines he was interested in.

I would have loved to totally refurbish it, however it had to do with a lick and a promise for the moment being. HAHAHA at least now it did not need an oxygen tank to breath as the dust was clear from any breathing holes.

the scratches on the hood, I was told to sand it out with sandpaper and water, however was sceptical as I did not want to aboard a train I had no idea where it may take me.

At 250W it is doing a remarkable job, it has a small fan picking up dust, giving it a moderate suction and more means to compete in the market of that time where suction polishers was in demand, hence the South -African market had a flooring culture of parquet, long plank, and marley tiled floors in kitchen and bathrooms and the common polished cement on front porches and steps leading to the front door.

and I am thankful that the bag is in good condition and original. so is the cord. Having re greased the bushes, and gears and new carbon brushes, it is a one step closer to a better life.

Many many Thanks
Adrian
