Well, all kidding aside, even though I'm totally Hoove

The Concept is one fantastic vacuum. It seems to have cleared up any "faults" discovered in the famed Dial
-A-Matic.

I'd say go with a concept one. If your using it commercially I would say try and find a non power drive model, I've never used one but I would say it might be slightly lighter. I Have a concept 1, powermax with electronic control, and concept II with push button electronic controls. I like my concept one with cord rewind the best, I don't find it terribly heavy and at the end just hit the button and the cords gone.

Having owned several sanitaires, I feel like you just can't beat the quadraflex agitator for all around cleaning, dust, deep dirt, lint, pet hair etc.... Mind you ive tried several sanitaire brush rolls. VgII VG 1 with beaters and Vg with only brush strips. They just never seem to get the hair. Plus I find the filtration with a HEPA A bag is better than the new ST style sanitaire HEPA bag. Mine still leaked dust down where the bag connects to the machine and on the inside of the bag where the dirt tube connects to the bottom piece.

However finding new brush strips for a concept and other parts is obv not going to be as easy as a sanitaire. That might not matter if your just using it normally and not commercially. Sorry for the essay

Colby

I agree

I think a self-propelled might be too heavy AND, there's far more to break, get stuck, or just plain "go wrong".
Quadraflex was one of the best things ever invented. Tuffllex hose, too.lol

Pardon me for going against the norm, but

I prefer the feel of cleaning with a Sanitaire. It just feels like a superior machine compared to any of the later Hoovers. And it's easier to service, too.

Sanitaire--or Commercial Royal.I have a couple Hoover Concept uprights-both with Hoovers power drive.Find the Hoover Power drive clunky , awkward, and crude compared to Kirby.Concepts have a tendency to clog.Sanitaires and Royals can eat the stuff and keep going. If those ever jam-easier to clear it.

I'd have to say I prefer a Sanitaire as well; Simple, powerful, no frills machine that can be used as a garbage disposal if necessary. I cleaned my church with a SC684 for about a year and a half, and it couldn't be beat. Loved the 50 foot cord, it was lightweight enough to not be terribly tiring while cleaning approximateely 10,000 square feet of carpet and various doormats, and as long as I fed it a steady diet of brush strips and belts, never had an issue. Never clogged or jammed except for the occasional piece of gravel or salt under the belt. If I had to do it again, I would go with the disposable bag setup rather than the shakeout bag, which leaked a fair amount of dust and could be messy to empty.
