Hi everyone. This is my first post here, and I must confess that I don't actually know anything about vacuums. However, I recently bought an old house in St. Louis that has turned out to be a treasure trove of old stuff. I hate throwing things away, so I've been trying to find homes for most of the more interesting items. I came across this site as I was trying to find out more about this vacuum I found in the attic. I believe it is a Westinghouse Model T4, but obviously you folks will know better than I. It appears to be in its original box with all of the attachments. When I was last over there I didn't take them all out of the box to photograph, but I can if someone would like me to. I'm interested in selling it to anyone whose interested. Let me know if you have any questions or anything. Thanks!

Your best bet would be to list it on eBay. It's a highly collectible machine that many vacuum cleaner collectors would love to have; eBay would give you a wider base of potential buyers.

I would love to see more photos of it. Thanks!

Welcome to Vacuumland and thanks for your consideration in informing us about your Westinghouse cleaner and for posting some photos of it.

"Highly valuable" is a relative term for any antique. I have seen such cleaners for sale at garage sales and even antique stores at reasonable prices. On the other hand, I've seen vintage items at antique stores or eBay listed and/or sold at phenomenal prices only to discover another one of similar condition for a few bucks at a thrift store. That just proves that a common item (versus one with a special quality such as a famous signature or a something used during a special event) is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it along with the amount of greed or generosity its seller has.

So I encourage you to sell your Westinghouse cleaner for whatever price and through whatever channel works best for you.

The vacuum has been sold to a local man in St. Louis who saw this thread. Thanks to all for helping me find a home for this little slice of history. Perhaps he will post pics later when it is all cleaned up. On closer inspection we found that the box is original and even included the original packing slip. We plugged it in and it worked fine.

Rick Asquith got this earlier, I was at Cross Keys and saw him there and he had this with him, very nice shape except the dust brush is warped!

Lucy...I'm home!

Yes, I was able to buy my first Westinghouse vacuum for my collection! It's in great shape, just some spit and polish. The original cloth bag has no bad smells or stains, the original owner respected this machine. As Alex has already alerted, everything that came in the box is there, hang tag and packing slip. It was quite a find, and he even threw in another vacuum, a GE Swiveltop from the 60's, complete and running great. I have one like that already, but who was I to refuse! I will be bringing the Westinghouse to the St. Louis convention this summer!
