Recently my grandmother got new carpet installed in her house, she mainly uses a Hoover Lightweight Platinum upright and an Oreck XL Heritage addition. The Hoover is way too heavy for her and my grandfather to use so she mainly uses the Oreck now. As the new carpet she had installed is higher pile than the old carpet, its a little more difficult to push the Oreck and the Hoover. She already told me that the Hoover will be going into the basement and the Oreck will still be used. But then I got thinking. The man who installed the new carpet used a Dyson DC07 Origin to vacuum up the messes that he left. One day, he left the Dyson at my grandmas (as he was coming back the next day) since I was there, I decided to vacuum up with it. As I was vacuuming my grandma came up to me and asked how it worked, I responded "it works well on this type of carpet, you should try". My grandma took the vacuum from me and began cleaning. When she was done I asked her what she thought. She said that it was a little heavy but she liked how it was bag less and had a long hose with the attachments.

My idea is that I could give my grandma my DC07 to use. It's the DC07 Full Kit. The dyson i have is only sitting collecting dust so I might was well let my grandma use it. Would it be a good idea to let my grandma who is 78 to use it or would it be a little to heavy for her considering she has arthritis? She said it works good so maybe I'll let her use it for a bit.

I think you have answered your own question through experience. If she has already tried it, then let your Grandma have the Dyson, but also let her keep the Oreck as a standby. Its either that or the consideration of anything modern, bagless and lightweight for her to consider.
