What do you guys use to polish the kirby's. Also any spa treatment tips for those. I plan on giving our G4 a better one since I have joined here. Also I finally found out what that little light is for on the brush housing.

you will need

 2 grades of steel wool, if you look at the packages get one for "metal polishing" and the other super extra fine.

For polishing you can used Mother's aluminum polish, or Flitz Metal polish.
Mother's is available at Wal Mart, Flitz at Ace hardware.

Clean the surface to be polished first with the plain coarser steel wool. Use lots of elbow grease.

Next with a clean piece of the coarser steel wool, work the surface using some polish. Again use lots of elbow grease, and apply the polish frequently.

Wipe and buff with a clean soft cloth. If you want more shine, polish some more.
Your final polish should be with the super-fine steel wool.

You'll know you're doing well when your fingers turn black from all the gunk!

Steel wool comes in grades from superfine numbered 0000, 000,00,0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7 being the coarsest. I just use the 0000 (four zeros) but the machines I've had to do have no crusty stuff on them. Flitz seems to work well. Then just rub rub rub and if you have some rubber gloves wear em cause you'll want them. Sometimes I attach a buffing wheel/bob to the electric drill as well. And lotsa paper towels or rags for wiping off the black tarnish.

Light on Brushroll Bar

 Hi,

All other points have already been elequently answered, but no-one has answered the question about the light on the brushroll.

It is simply there as an indicator if the brush roll becomes jammed. There will be a small magnet embedded in the end of the brushroll, and this as it spins induces an electric current in a small coil attached to an LED. This means that as the roll is spining, the light will be lit, but if it becomes obstructed, then the light will go out as the roll is no longer spinning. Simple but effective!

Don't worry be happy

 Its ok I was just about to ask that question, that was before I got a new brushroll for it yesterday. I went in the Local Sew N Vac and explained what I needed and the lady said with or without the magnet, that is when I gave a look of "what???" and things went on from there. She demonstrated it to me using a kirby ultimate G.
