I heard there are vacuum cleaner collectors conventions i know there is one in saint louis but that is a long way from where i live so i was wondering if there are any conventions closer to me or is it worth it to fly to saint louis which would mean saving up a lot i really want to see the museum and all also i was wondering when it would be i know it super early in the year and it probably has not been scheduled yet but are there any guesses also is this conventions good for younger but seasoned collectors also if i go what would i expect to see vacuum wise thanks in advance AcDirtDevil

2015 Convention

Hey, Aiden,

The Convention is in June and I believe early June this year.  It will be at a nice hotel and rather near the airport, so you would not require any additional transportation  Most everyone REALLY enjoys the Conventions; my first was 2005.  They have all been great but 2008 was the Zenith and probably will never be duplicated; not for lack of wonderful work and planning but because there simply will never be another Centennial for/like the original Hoover Company and I doubt another company will ever welcome us to the degree Hoover did.  Some wonderful people are planning the Convention again this year, so I can almost guarantee you will be glad you attended!

This year the convention is in Missouri in the same area as the vintage vacuum museum, it is a double treat, it should be another great convention, we have a lot of activities at the hotel and also I am looking forward to going to the vintage vacuum museum hosted by Tacony and Tom Gasko. If you don't want to participate in the clubs convention and just go to the museum it is open all the time, so you can go their anytime, but take my advice, the club conventions are great, you will have a lot of fun there.

There are two conventions in June this year.
The first one is in St Louis Mo the first weekend in June and the other is the second weekend in St James Mo where the vacuum museum is located and also the Tacony vacuum factory.
St James is located about 2 hours west of St louis on interstate 44.

Also the one in St Louis is a Pay function, meaning you have to be a dues paying member of vacuumland to attend and also pay registration fees and such.
Now then you can come to the one in St James absolutly FREE there is no admission fee. All you have to pay for is your hotel and meals.

Yes.

The VCCC convention is open for dues paying members and their guest(s).. also requiring a fee. They are always a fantastic time. Anyone who has ever been to one can tell you.
It is a totally separate function from anything else going on in St. James. Some members may take advantage of the opportunity to visit Tacony, if they wish. But, it is a totally separate fuunction.

To make a correction to a statement above, to attend the VCCC convention, one needs to be a member of the Vacuum Cleaner Collector's Club -- the Vacuum Cleaner Collector's Club and Vacuumland.org are two completely separate entities.

sorry to be asking so many questions but i really want to go and don't want there to be any surprises. So how does one become a member of the Vacuum Cleaner Collectors Club? And also what hotel is at?

The VCCC conventions are the Best! There is never a dull moment. Our Convention Planners have a full agenda for the entire time. Barb sent out a thread that I thought included the hotel and airport information. Perhaps we can get her to repost that information.

I have to miss this year as I have another important meeting scheduled at the same time.

You won't regret coming and being a part of this wonderful group of collectors. We have some of the most knowledgable collectors that can assist with repairs, have accurate history information and just plain fun to be around.

AcDirtDeviler,

If you go to the Vacuumland main page and click on Vacuum Clubs, you will see a link to join our group. You can also send a note to: gottahaveahoove and he will also be able to assist you.

As treasurer I will know when you have sent your dues through Paypal and place you on our roster.

Aiden, it's being held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel near the airport, Lambert Field, St. Louis. It's a great hotel that went through a complete remodel I believe in 2013. Most of the airlines here use it to put up stranded passengers when they can accomodate us. People should be well accomodated for our convention.

If you come all the way to St. Louis, and don't visit the Vacuum Cleaner Museum, you're really missing something. That would be like going to Washington DC, and not going to see the White House. The Vacuum Museum is the mecca for vacuum collectors. Where else could you see (and RUN) virtually every model vacuum ever made? And, at the same time, see 216 American workers building vacuums from the ground up? The Factory where Simplicity, Riccar, and Maytag vacuums are made is located in the same building as the Vacuum Cleaner Museum.
