Hello, I would like to introduce a topic today relating to your favorite, 20 year old or less, vacuum cleaner! I know most people on here collect older models, but I just wanted to see some of the choices. State a reason on why you like the vacuum, maybe the year it came out, and a picture if you like. If the vacuum is a little bit before 1994 that's OK too, it just needs to be vaguely near 1994. So with out further ado, mine is the Kirby Generation 4 (cutting it close on the year). I have one in my collection from my grandmother. I cannot however show a picture because I stink at modern technology. I am 100 percent honest when I say that I do most of my typing on a 1920's Royal Typewriter.

Boy, that's a tough question. I was born in '97, so most vacuums I grew up with were produced during that time period. Plus, it doesn't help I've been using pre-1984 models as daily drivers for over 3 years now, and pre-1990 for probably 5. I'd like to say the late-90s line up of Sanitaires, but their design wasn't really produced in that decade. I think it comes down to either the Hoover Elite II or Eureka Whirlwind Lightspeed. I've used both models extensively and found them capable of deep cleaning carpets with also great above-floor performance. I don't think I've used enough door-to-door models from that era to really make a judgment. I had a Kirby G3 briefly, but I hear that even the G4 was a pretty drastic improvement.

Most of the vacuums from the following manufacturers not listed in any order.....

Rainbow - SePE, Rainbow Black E2

Aerus - Lux Legacy Canisters, Lux 3000 Upright etc, Electrolux Commemorative Edition

Kirby - From G4's to the 100th anniversary model along with Classic and Kirby 505

Tacony products - Simplicity and Riccar's

Royal - All Metal Vacuums

Air Storm or Patriot Vacuums

Would only buy Eureka and Hoover's when they were owned by Eureka Williams and The Hoover Company.

Are pre 1994 but I have one that stands out to me that falls somewhere in the 1994 timeframe. I like it because it's a rare model and probably the most beautiful one I own. Actually, Bud Mattingly (PR-21) owns one as well and mentioned it in his post...anyway, it's the Electrolux UltraLux Commemorative Edition. Here's a photo or two of mine.
