Im very seriously thinking about thinning out my collection and concentrating on Westinghouse...across the board, not just vacuums, but all appliances....do you guys think ive gone crazy....I have so much stuff that I never touch, I think It might be fun to specialize like John Long does with Hoover....the nib Westinghouse Carousel I bought got me to thinking....what do you all think???

That's a cool idea for collecting...

I'd say go for it but that's my opinion. :)

My problem is...

Space...I have the basement and garage both full, over 200 vacuums and probably as many mixers etc...

Neat Idea

I know very little about Westinghouse, but I believe if it is what you are most passionate about then it is great to throw all the resources you can behind that collection. I find myself doing that with Electrolux more and more- selling other brand vacuums in order to get more Lux stuff. Best wishes!

Personally, I think it's

a great idea. It makes thing simpler, a nd yet, it "broadens your "collectable" scope. You'd be amazed at what you could find.
Best of luck,
John.

Hi Kenkart.

If you want a good home for that Electrolux CA, let me know it's one of my 'must have' machines.

We'll talk more after Christmas, but it's the only thing I really want, and I've wanted one since I first saw one as a child of about 12. I almost got one but it slipped through my fingers.

Have a great Christmas and Happy New Year.

Alex Taber.

Cons:

1) Thinning down your current collection

Pros:

1) Thinning down your current collection
2) Having a well-defined future collection
3) Gaining a wealth of information on Westinghouse
4) Benefitting other Westinghouse enthusiasts by sharing your vast knowledge
5) Having a more limited parts inventory
6) Freeing up space around your house
7) Providing other collectors and enthusiasts opportunities to purchase your non-Westinghouse appliances
8) Swapping parts among similar or identical machines would be a higher likelihood with the potential of saving you money overall

There may be more, but it is apparent that your idea has merit. Best wishes in your decision.

I say: "go for it". Also, there's a Museum that needs a Strato and a pistol grip Kenmore hose. Just sayin'.

You vultures, swooping down on Han's precious vacuums just because he is thinning out & focusing on Westinghouse. Have you no shame :-)

Rob

PS- To Charles Richard, if that Lewyt Big Wheel just so happens to be an Electronic model with the PN, no way are you getting it! I am claiming first rights on it. :P

I think that's a great idea!  Westinghouse is such an iconic brand, with a diverse line of consumer, commercial, and industrial products.  I love the idea of collecting and therefore preserving an important part of American history.
