So this morning, I went to the vacuum store in my hometown and got myself my very first Hoover Convertible. It still works, and the lady was nice enough to give me an extra belt, an extra Type A bag, and an extra bulb. Best part, it was only $79.95 (my budget is <$100).

I love this vacuum very much, reminds me of the Hoover my father had back in the day. It will even last longer than my Bissells, as well as outclean them.

I would never use attachments on a fan-first machine. If you want to do that, that's fine.

I just meant if you have a machine, you might care to own the tools that go with it.

I personally

see nothing wrong with using attachments on a fan-first cleaner. Actually, my Kirby Heritage II-Legend is one of my best-performing cleaners, both on carpets and with the hose. The fan-first setup provides direct airflow, making it a wonder for above floor cleaning. You just have to be careful with what you suck up.
