I found a spare Filter Queen while out vacuum hunting today. Ok, so I already have one of these, but it never hurts to have a spare! Actually, this new one has some subtle difference from the current one I have. I wanted to share some photos with everyone. (I had to give her a bath...)

The new one is on the LEFT!

Filthy Queen - LOL

See why she needed a bath! (You never know what the previous owner picked up with it..ugh)

Takin' a bath...

I love cleaning up vacuums to make them look like new again!

Disassembled and drying off. The motor and fans were actually very clean.

The motor is stamped with the date February 28, 1997.

I see the difference. How lucky to find such a nice one. I like the one on the right.

Nice!

I've never had a FQ apart... are they difficult to service?

I have the same FQ - A Majestic Triple Crown. Bought it in 2001, to ease my pain of not being able to go to that year's VCCC Convention. My only complaint is the power head.. Kind of like pushing a shoe box around on the floor. :)

Logan,

Congrats on a job well done. She looks fantastic.

To Fred:

Yes they are very easy to service. They are held together by (off the top of my head) 6 screws and the whole design is pretty simple and easy to work on.

My power nozzle stays in the basement because I agree that it is not very effective, but I have a solution to that. Typically I only use Filter Queens for straight suction, but if I really want to use a power nozzle I have an adapter so that I can use a Hoover Quadraflex Power Matic. I LOVE the Hoover power nozzles with the removable brush strips. They clean the hell out of the carpet!

Sometimes, I like to mix and match vacuum attachments to get a "super vac."

Logan,

Wonderful looking Filter Queen. I would agree that they are easy to service as well. Have you seen or used the newest model with the redesigned powerhead, I think you would find it cleans much better that than older models.

Can we see pictures of the Queen/Hoov set up?

Logan, I'd like to know where you got an adapter to use another power nozzle. I too have the same gripe about the FQ head, I have a Hoover nozzle I could use or also a Hayden made Kenmore nozzle which I'm fond of. I have an adapter to use if I want to use any other friction fit attachments but would like the option of using another power nozzle.

Spares

I like to have spares of most everything,my excuse for collecting,I like the FQ on the right it reminds me of my 80's chocolate and chrome model with that plastic trim that they added on the top,and it still has the older style exhaust cover, I bought it when my model 33 '65 vintage died one day,a great memory from my childhood,I replaced the motor,so I have two great Filter Queens,The older one has the hair dryer, massager and floor polisher, no power nozzles,if I want to deep clean a carpet I use an upright. Morgan and Rick

Here are some pictures of the Filter Queen/Hoover setup. Now please don't laugh because this is truly "rigged" up but it works great. It's fun to piece vacuums together sometimes to get a "super vac" as I mentioned above. :-)

Ok, here are the adapters. The one on the left is a standard friction fit adapter. The one of the right is designed to work with Hoover style nozzles.

Assembly...

Just snap on the Hoover adapter...

Post# 30362 , Reply# 18   1/27/2008 at 08:42 (5,932 days old) by logan ()
Next...

Attach a power nozzle wand that has a snap connector (for lack of a better term). Here I just grabbed a Rainbow wand but you can use the older Eureka wands, etc.

Next...

Attach the friction fit adapter to the other end of the wand...

Finally, attach the Filter Queen hose to the friction fit adapter (I fits perfectly and holds well). Here is the complete picture.

It really is "rigged" up but fun to use.

That's a neat arrangement.

Plug in and play, so to speak. A repairman told me once he could change the end of my GE hose (no way) to put tools back on it, as the originals at the time were nowhere around in this area. I would like to find a couple of those aftermarket adaptors just for fun.

Thanks!

Thank you for going to the trouble of showing your adapters and conversion to a "super vac"! Do you know where I can obtain the adapter to fit the power nozzle. I have the other one but have never seen the one for the nozzle end. I have a 2 speed Hoover Quadraflex power nozzle that I would love to use with my Princess III, what a carpet cleaner that would make!

Logan,

Great "rigging"! I would venture to guess that lots of us do that . And, as you said, you get a super vac. Fred S. showed me how to put my Air-Way p/n on my Compact Electra and that makes a wonderful combination.

I'll know my Mar. schedule on 2/13 and then we can plan something. Plan on making lots of creative combinations!

Hey Rick a friend gave me that adapter years ago and I am not sure where he got it from. I've been doing some searches on the Internet and can't find them anywhere. Sorry!

Does anyone else here know where you can get these?
