I was just wondering what everybody thought of the Fantom Cyclone XT. I have one. I think that it is somewhat of an improvement over the Fantom Thunder, due to it's on/off brush switch, and slightly better motor protection. However, it doesn't clean as well as the Thunder, and it it's airflow and suction are not as good. I feel if it had used the Thunder's motor, also with a better pre-motor filter, it would have been an excellent upright. Any thoughts?

I never used one, so I cannot say. I know Fantomvacuumfan has one and he loves it.

I thought it was a huge heavy mess. Way too handle heavy, and like you said, it doesn't have all that much power. I have a Fury only because when I was growing up I wanted one in the worst way, I liked the Fury over the Thunder because I thought the Thunder's handle looked less appealing for whatever reason, and the Fury had a more normal looking handle. I got one that was in really good shape, put in a good brush roll and our last new HEPA filter for them. I use it once in a while, but it definitely isn't my best cleaning vacuum. I think the Amway Cleartrack outcleans it by a lot.

The Fury is easier to handle.

I do like the wand set up on the Fury better, and clean up on low pile carpet is great, but it still doesn't have the greatest deep cleaning ability. The fury's dirt passage way at the base is also very small, so it could get clogged with large debris. The same goes for the Cyclone XT and Lightning. In effect, the Thunder was really Fantom's best machine, though not perfect by any means. It is still very heavy with only so-so filtration and suction. I'm still looking for an Amway!
