I was recently at my local vacuum shop ( yes I am still lucky to have one )and looked at a Sanitaire comercial upright for curiosity. It did not look much different than my mid 1960's Hoover convertible. It was fairly expensive but the actual construction was very similar. My question is? Is a average 1960's 70's or 80's Hoover convertible just as good and as heavy duty as a commercial new Sanitare upright? Your thoughts. Bill,

I would say the Sanitaire

I love convertibles & Sanitaires, but for a commercial setting, I would definitely have to pick the Sanitaire. I feel like it would hold up better under constant heavy use as it was designed for that and the convertible wasn't. Although, I'm really sure what the difference is between a convertible & a guardsman (aside from the colour).
