Hi Bob: The thing you're mising is the leaflet below that went with the instruction book. I'm including two different ones here. The first is from the older model and the second the newer. You'll notice the combination round / upholstery brush is an option with the first and standard equipment with the second. The newer model of 86 (which you have) could be purchased with either a cord reel or a halo to wrap the cord around ($30.00) difference I'm told. This was done to replace the need for having two machines like they did in the earlier versions (model 83 and 86). Doug |

Hi Doug. Thanks again, by the way. Did any of the manuals include a description of the PN I, even as optional equipment? I'm still on the lookout for a PN I. Bob |

Now that is a beautiful machine! I wish American Electrolux had utilized some addtional colors as in that maroon combo. It looks to be in fabulous shape. (Did I say fabulous?) Enjoy it!!! I am jealous (in a good way!) Rick |

Then I have that last 88 manual (as well as the earlier one) 'cause there on page 13 is the 88 with a clip-on power cord plugged into the handle socket and red & cream PN1 with a long one piece cream plastic wand attached. The Model B20 Floor and Rug Conditioner in matching Red & Cream appears on the back cover. Pete, my Red & Cream 86 has the power socket under the tab in the handle. Sadly, it also has the chrome manual wind cord cone, not the optional automatic cord reel. And we have seen the red & cream PN1 on Doug's site. So..... The all red Eluxomatic 88 I got from you has the auto cord winder but no power socket. Please Doug, sort this out for us ignorant peasants. Dave |

ok - start with a bit of history then. In 1957 Electrolux Canada introduced the 80 series. All three machines (83, 86 and 88) were out at that time with the 83 being the cheapy, 86 being the standard and the 88 being the delux. In 1963 the design was changed slightly and the bumpers added. At this time they dropped the 83 and started producing the 86 with the cord halo (For $30 more you could add the cord reel). Around 1965 or 1966 they began importing the PN1 from the US. It could be used with any of the 80 series machines. The new ones came with the outlet in the handle. If you had an older 80 series machine the repair depo would put a new handle on it with the outlet in it. The first of the PN1's sold here, like the US, had the long plastic wand attached to them. By late 1967 we were producing a plastic telescopic wand that was removable (The cord still clipped to the outside of it) Then, with the introduction of the models 87 and 89 (Green) in 1968 we brought out the telescopic wand with the cord built in. PN1's were still being produced in red at this time as well as green (but with the new style wand)as there was still a big market for retrofitting them to older machines. Hope this clears things up a bit Doug |
