What I have here is a 1958 Hoover Constellation Model 84 canister cleaner! I rescued it from out of a recycling bin and here it is in my house now! I also found the hose attachment and the telescopic rolling floor attachment. It was pretty gross when I first found it and the bag was full of nuts bolts and sawdust so I'm guessing this was someone's shop cleaner. Ive gone through it and it wasn't in that bad of shape other than being dirty and having some low-suction. It even still effortlessly glides across the carpet on a cushion of air. I was wondering where I could possibly find some replacement parts (such as the rubber seal, the carrying handle, and the internal seals) they seem to be scarce and salvage units are even more rare. My plan was to get it good and clean, service the engine, and try to repaint it or maybe strip it down to its metal and buff the hell out of it for that seriously retro look.

Not sure if the unit was valuable or rare or not, there just seems to be limited info and parts! I'll post again once I get around to restoring it, there's 2 Kirbys in line ahead of it so in the meantime it sits next to the workbench being super useful for those crusty goodwill kirbys!

Cheers!

Wow,very cool.If it were mine I would just polish it lightly with some soft scrub. You'll find that with a little effort most of all all the staining and light rusty stains will come off .Use the same om the cords and attachments. After doing that a little car wax will make the finish pop out again.Very nice find

The wall ponies are the remnants of other collections! I do collect a lot of different things after all.

I can still function within my home actually! I don't think I've quite stepped into hoarding territory yet But my roomie likes to give me shit about the things I collect so I'm most of the time discouraged to buy more things. I think it has something to do with the weekly visits to Goodwill Outlet lol. What I hope to do though is steadily increase my experience and knowledge about certain models I like.

If you appear on "Hoarding..Burried Alive" then you know it's a problem..which I don't see that happening after most of the episodes I've seen it's mostly garbage people hoard..why?? There was nothing else on the telly ..seriously get a storage unit if the "roommie" goes ballistic 😃 Cheers!!

Pair that Constellation up with a Hoover powerhouse upright like a Concept One and you'll have the cleanest house in Texas!
