Hello
A friend recently gave me his mothers Hoover Model 29, all orginal. I had to replace the power cord as it was not safe.
But there is one problem......the retaining clip on the left end of the agitator....... does not stay tight.......comes loose when u try to vacuum with it and drags on the floor.
Is there a solution to this problem?
Thanks
Robert

Robert, I had the same problem with my 62, The spring that holds that clip back is broken, most likely. Back in the day
I would have fixed it myself (when I had my vacuum shop). It
needs a new one rivited into place. Take it to a good/friendly local vac shop. Make friends with the owner,
give him the business to do the repair. I should not cost very much.
Good luck, congratulations on the Hoover 29. It's a great machine!

Robert,

I would take Norm's advice. This should be an easy fix. It is more time consuming than difficult. Does your 29 have the original maroon bag with the word "HOOVER" vertically on the bag?
