I'm no where near to trading my used Ultimate G for a new Kirby but I wondered if you can "trade in" the old one to save some $$ on a new one. I'm going to make my first pilgramage to the closest Kirby store (30 miles plus) just to look around. Any words of wisdom?

Yes,you can trade your older Kirby towards the new one--BUT most Kirby dealers will give you a discount on the new one becuase you already own an older Kirby. If you have another vacuum, you may try trading it in instead if you want to keep your older Kirby. And in general you may see the Kirby at their "store" in most cases they are required to delivor and demo the new machine in your home. There are some exceptions-in many large cities there are "stores" where you can go to see,get the demo, and buy the machine. The place has many floor surfaces and furniture to try the machine on.When I lived in Wash DC area it was like this.Same with Electrolux. When you were a further distance out of town-then there was the conventional home demos.I had a Kirby "Classic" demoed the "store" way-was Kirby of Suitland,MD.There was a small "Lux store in the Suitland,Forestville,MD area-this was in the 70's.

Tolvac, so they will look at other brands (like my Oreck) on trade in?

Yes,the Kirby salesman or any other DTD one will consider just about any machine for trade. One Kirby guy that visited me didn't want trade ins-he gave me the 50% discount since I already own Kirbys.Even knocked a little more off since I collected them.

I'm not sure if it's tinnitus or the siren call of a new Kirby in my ears. I've had my Ult G about a month now and am wondering if my house would be even cleaner with a new K. On impulse called the nearest K dealer and asked when the "newest" model would be out, she danced around the issue and never really said, but she will give me a call(I'm sure).
So let's pretend that I give in. Do you think they will be discounting the Sentrias?

When you buy a new K what comes with it? Do you get the shampooer and sprayer, etc. or are those all "packages"?

A new Kirby comes with a hose and a caddy full of hose attachments.

The Shampoo system and the Hard Floor care kit are extra.

I remember when the Sentria came out, our local dealer sold the remaining Diamond Editions for $500.00 incl. the caddy of attachments. I believe that was at or near his cost. Personally I think you'd be getting the same machine with only cosmetic differences at a huge cost. When I had my G3 reconditioned, I upgraded the newer style emtor attachment and newer style brush roll, and would put it up against anything newer with the same features. I've always heard that a good deal on a new Kirby is around $850.00 which leaves room for distributor profit and a commision for the sales rep. I read that here, I'm sure it's somewhere in the archives.
