Tomorrow, I should be getting my Montgomery Wards I got off ebay, well not really off ebay. I talked to the user and offered a price that he could not refuse. I ordered it a week ago, and it will finally be here tomorrow. I am not sure if I may have time tomorrow to pick it up. If not tomorrow, for sure Wednesday. I just thought I would post the ebay picture. Just this one picture. When I get it, I will show pictures of it I took with my camera of the fan and everything.

I just hope it still has its original metal fan. The user put in the description, "all original" so that means the fan should still be metal.

It's a Wards Custom model. So I am thinking this was custom made for someone.

i think that came from jeff parker. i recognize that background. if so, it should be a great running machine and well looked after...

Yea, that is the guy's name who sold it to me. He said he is also a collector. So pretty much, then it really is all original. That means the fan should be metal.

I am just happy I found what I have been looking for. A Wards in that style, rather than the traditional Eureka Style with the Curved hood. This is the style with the triangle shaped hood.

This machine is going to complete my collection of uprights, since I don't have space in my closet for anymore.

I wonder if this model has that switch at the top, the switch that you press down and it turns on, like a pulse switch. It's hard to explain.

Alright guys, tomorrow, I am officially picking it up. It came a little late today. I hope to have pictures of it tomorrow.

That's Montgomery WARD, not WARDS! tongue-out

Wrong: let's go shopping at Montgomery Wards!

Correct: I love my new Montgomery Ward sewing machine!

Correct: this Wards blender is awesome!

Montgomery Wards can be used as slang, though. Such as J.C Penneys. Not proper English, but who cares! These stores rock!

Now that I'm done ranting about my favourite department store (I'm the ambassador of everything Wards! tongue-out), enjoy the Montgomery Ward!

My mom called it, 'Monkey Warts'! tongue-out

Could've been Monkey Wards, too, though!

Montgomery Ward was so awesome. I remember it when I was 7 years old. We had a 2 story Montgomery Ward at Cielo Vista Mall here in El Paso. I remember when it closed for good, and almost all the store was empty about a week before closing.

Sadly, they tore the entire building down until it was all just land. Then, they built Folley's, which is now Macy's.

I have a feeling Montgomery Ward was higher end than Sears.

Wards was second rate to Sears, but still an awesome store! My local Wards is still standing, the last time it saw business was 2012, when a consignment shop rented it. Didn't even know it was the former Wards! I'm glad I got to go in it, what I'd give to explore the whole thing! They didn't have the second story open, and the elevators were closed. You could see panels falling from above, though! Just thinking about it makes me want to get in there and look for any trace of Wards!

I bought my first typewriter from the consignment shop, so I can just barely say I bought it at a Montgomery Ward! tongue-out

Montgomery's Ward was so much better, they were always "kid" friendly & Sears was always stuffy & their staff always followed you around to make sure you didn't touch or break anything.

We had only 2 Montgomery Wards in El Paso. One at Cielo Vista which was razed until you could see only land, and one at Sunland Park Mall which became Dillard's Men. The one at Sunland Park Mall was I think gutted from the inside and renovated. You can't even tell it was a Montgomery Ward. It smells like Dillard's inside and looks like Dillard's. Also, I think it used to be 3 floors and had their elevator in the middle of the store, from what someone told me. So they gutted the entire inside but did not tear the entire building down.

In Lubbock, Montgomery Ward was freestanding and very small. My grandma pointed it out to me, but I forgot where it was in Lubbock. I know it was near South Plains Mall.

When I lived in El Paso, I also went into Sunland Park Mall through Montgomery Ward.  There was only one entrance in and out through Wards.  If I went in through the Popular (now Sears) or any other store, I'd always loose my car.  Those stores had multiple entrances!  LOL!

Was the elevator really in the middle of the store at Wards at Sunland? Also, was it 3 floors?

I don't know where the elevator was located, but the escalator was in the middle of the store.  It was only two levels.  Housewares, gardening, and automotive was on the upper floor (which is where the parking lot entrance was).  The lower floor was clothing.

Then that means the escalators and the current elevator are still the same. Ok, so yea, they gutted everything else except those 2.

I was at the mall yesterday and was sure to stop in front of WARDS, the store front was covered by a rolling, blacked-out glass wall. Regardless, I ran up to it and said, "Daddy's coming!"....in front of my friends! laughing

What I'd give to go through that store, I could've sworn some of the employee signs still said "Montgomery Ward" when i walked trough it as a consignment shop. I should've taken pictures! But i was sure to take one of the entrance yesterday!

oh, and you should've seen what i did when we drove by my abandoned dream-house on the way to the mall! tongue-out
