Normally I wouldnt look at something this new...but this was virtually scratch free, and only 10.00, so I had to have it...when were these made, im woefully ignorant of anything newer than the mid 60s...it really seems to have some power, especially when you press the power surge button......its plastic, but leagues ahead of todays stuff...best of all its made in good old Canton Ohio!

You are lucky Hans,

Most of the time the labeling on those machines is scratched to pieces. My guess is 80"s....

Great cleaners....and a top fill bag which did improve the performance. I know they are smaller but I use the synthetic cloth type Y bags in mine to improve filtration.

I think..

I have some original bags, but the ones you speak of would be much better..I think it must have not been used much at all, it really is almost like new.

Nice find!

I always thought that was a particularly handsome machine, nice to see it in good shape.

The Decade 80 is a well-built "plastic" vac.. The best of the "plastics". You now need a nice set of tools!
ENJOY your vacuum.
John

A lot in the Good Will. When ever I see them I buy them and use them as rental cleaners or lend them to people when I do repairs for them. There really good for that because they're so tough. :)

I think you'll find it well made. Their canisters from that period were top quality products. The plastics Hoover was using then are high quality and shine up amazingly well. I use Harley Davidson scratch and swirl remover and get a deep mirror finish. Any ultra fine auto polish ought to work as well, or you could use aircraft canopy polish. Follow up with some auto wax and it'll look wonderful. Well bought.

So many of them have terribly scratched stickers from people forcing them under things. Some poeople are "bangers'.

When I found

My Decade 80 at Goodwill several years ago, I spazzed out! I had been wanting one for some time, and it was in near mint condition. It only cost me $8.09. An $8.09 well spent.
