Had a very productive weekend, picked up a couple of nice vacs from Craigslist. Spend today cleaning up the new 516 (because apparently I needed another one...) It turned out great, and purrs like a kitten! I'm not familiar with Hoovers, however. Is this a Model 700? I didn't see a model number stamped anywhere.

If ya feel like you have too many 516s let me know! I've been looking for one! :)

Yeah, your not kidding! It looks like a panacea to all our vacuum ails. Thanks for posting, and the Cognac looks quite refreshing too. smile

That's a Hoover model 725, made in 1929. You'll note the orange band around the motor, differentiating it from a model 700. This was the first Hoover to have a cooling fan on the motor. Before that, the motors were sealed with no cooling airflow.

Thanks for the info! I didn't realize it was that early. I can't wait to get it cleaned up. I rarely deviate from Kirbys, but I have a thing for the "coffee can" style hoovers. I'd love to find a 450, but this will do for now!

Craigslist here you find everything but vacuums listed. You type in Panasonic vacuum into the search field and you get lighting fixtures and other crap. 1929 vintage on Craigslist. Wow, nice.
