Somebody out there has got their old Dyson dc08 origin and converted into a stunning, disguise lamp! For a sec I thought they were selling the Dyson, but them viewed it because I saw how it looked like the hose handle looked like it was "floating" in the air like a ghost.

..as if it was any good for vacuuming!

(Ducks and runs! tongue-out)

Seriously though, it looks like they just duct-taped a folded piece of rubber over the nozzle for a shade! surprised

The "shade" is an LP record that was heated in an oven to warp it-then the light builder used the bent record as a "shade"-probably formed it to fit around the bulb while the record was still warm.Is this the alternative use of a Dyson-if you don't want to use it as a vacuum cleaner-then make it into a lamp.Like what appears to be a LED light in the dust bin.

Are you trying to disparage Dyson, Supersweeper? Because the DC08 has the most suction out of any Dyson that has ever been made.. Even the DC07, DC14 and DC41.
Stop mocking! It was a new thread aswell!

I think the idea is good but not very practical. The Kirby lamp is far better at being purposeful , I'd worry that I'd trip over the Dyson each time.

Oh, grow a sense of humour! It was sarcastic, not bashing. Remember, suction isn't the only factor in efficient vacuuming. undecided

The Kirby lamp, not only more lovely than the Dyson hipster lamp (recycling + melted LP records....that's a dead give away! surprised), but is also less of a trip hazard. For once we can agree on something, Sebo Fan! laughing

DC08's are worth lots, more than DC07's! that's cos of their suction and design, and also the contact heads + turbine heads.

Have you never seen an LP before Alex? I'd expect you to have plenty of them! tongue-out

There is nothing better than the sound of vinyl through a nice set of speakers.

I don't see how it can be worth lots when, even after being turned into a lamp, it still only sold for 0.99 Pounds.....

Hi Ultimatevacman, I forget your name! tongue-out

I do not play 78 RPM records, I stick to my 45s, and now (Mainly thanks to Calem and my love for just about anything vintage) my 8-Tracks! 78s play an entire album, when 45s let me select it by song (Or by Program on the 8-Track). 78s are too hipster, do they have a store called FYE (For Your Entertainment) over in Britain? They still sell records, record players and record player accessories there! sadly, they only sell hipster music on 78s! that or re-released versions of now-famous albums....surprised

I take exception to that! If I want to rail against a Dyson cheap floor lamp...Hey, you didn't say "resent" but "resemble"...O...O...O...OK, I get now!wink

Alex, that's cool! I listen mainly to 33s, although most of my singles are 12" rather than 7", but obviously still play at 45RPM tongue-out

What kind of music are you into? smile

Joe

oh I know those 33' things that play at 45 RPM, wonder if that's a British thing? oh well, it's nice to see another vinyl user here! wink

I listen to songs from when these records were new, mainly late 50s and early 60s stuff, you can't beat it! A lot better than hipsters dancing to dial-up modem sounds! laughing
