You really deserve some kind of reward! Great job on having the longest continuing thread in VacuumLand history. To Robert, Thanks for such an amazing site. As Dan stated, without VacuumLand some of us would have no one to share our interests with, or to gain knowledge and insight in the history of vacuums or the mechanics of them. Wonderful job!

Thanks so much I do enjoy EVERY vacuum I own and always buy what ever piques my interest which usually is almost every brand more so higher end vacuums but I do like some of the store bought machines just as well .

It is like Christmas 🎄🎄🎄 for me every day as I discover all the machines I forgot I owned over the years.
Also as the UPS FEDEX or USPS delivers me new toys too 📦📦📦

That vacuum is a Robot vacuum made in Mexico not a Rainbow but a good copy .
Hugs to you also my friend ☀️

Alphonse, the Sanitaire uprights are very nice & great deep cleaners. What keeps me from owning one, or a Hoover upright like it, is the round belts they use. I have had 2 Hoover Convertible's for brief periods of time, & both of them went thru belts like crazy! If I was going to buy a commercial direct-air upright, I would choose Royal....$599 CDN at McHardy Vacuum in London, Ontario, & it's ALL METAL unlike the Sanitaire. And an ordinary flat belt, same belt Kirby uses in fact, so no belt issue on the Royal :-).

Rob

PS- A new Royal will outclean a Kirby Sentria II for a quarter of the price of the Kirby :-)

Dan, I have a question about your Kenmore Elite Canister

Tell me, does the power nozzle seem easy to push in medium pile carpet? I've read complaints online about it being difficult to push and I just find this hard to believe. What's your opinion?

Post# 300313 , Reply# 20   10/1/2014 at 12:55 (3,488 days old) by kirbyloverdan (Egg Harbor Twp . NJ aka HOOVERLOVERDAN ❤️)
Hi John

kirbyloverdan's profile picture
Mine is still in the box I will be trying it out very soon .

I have frieze' carpet which is very dense and thick so we shall see ,it has carpet height adjustment so if it's hard to push usually means they set it too low .

Dan

Ok, thanks. Looking forward to the results

I had one of the older Powermate nozzles (10 yrs.) that I used on my in-laws central vac. It was a nightmare to get through their frieze carpet. I hope you have some different carpet to try it on as well. I really want this machine, but not if my housekeeper can't push it through medium pile carpet

Where did you find that "Robot" Rainbow copy? I can't find them anywhere on the internet. Even the owner's manual you have pictured looks similar to the D3's. Was the company's founder an ex-employee of Rexair? I'm so curious smile.

Dan -

Do you have the selector switch on the handle in one of the two carpet modes, and not on the hard floor mode?

I am sure you do, but it never hurts to ask - I am also sure you already know he handle has to be reclined for the brush to spin…

I am sorry that you had an issue out of the carton - Maybe the seller knew where was something wrong with it and that was why they sold it so cheep…

Yeah I tried all the above thanks for the thoughts I appreciate it , the seller sold 3 NIB it came sealed in an over box (brown) inside was the box I showed in my pictures .
There was zero signs of it being opened or used I guess it's just a lemon it has a Seven year warranty so I will go through Shark/Europro .
I know that price sounds like it should have been used but I have purchased many NIB items from eBay lots of sellers know not what they have . I bought a Kitchen Aid TOL mixer a year ago for $95.00 NIB I am very lucky shopping on eBay ;)

Dan, if I was in your situation, I wouldn't bother going thru Euro-Pro, expecting them to honor the seven-year warranty. They will most likely tell you that since you bought thru Ebay that you have no warranty, since you purchased thru an unauthorized channel. If you had obtained this vacuum directly from Euro-Pro or had bought it from a department store, & it was NOT a refurbished model, then you would have a case to approach them for warranty repairs.

I am willing to bet it's an issue with a circuit board inside the powerhead that's causing the trouble....the powerhead is obviously receiving power if the lights are working. It could also be a loose micro connector or micro receptacle that's causing the issue, try opening it up & see what you find. What you could do if the vacuum is unrepairable, is to buy the identical model thru a dept store....if you like it, then keep the one you bought on Ebay for a parts machine. If not, then re-sell your Ebay Shark as a parts machine, explaining in the description that the powerhead does not work.

Best of luck....Rob

Half the time when you ask where they got it you can usually say bed bath and they will be like ok. Provided its a model not made specifically for a certain store, I usaully always win.

The HOOVERS keep showing up ;)

This is another vacuum from my late Grandmom & grandfather
this is my Grandpops new 858 Constellation beautiful green/ beige
this was used about 2 times if that he used it in his bedroom wood floors
but my grandmother Prefered her cotton fuller brush dust mop to this so it sat
for years unused in the closet . They also had the green one with the switch in the handle
but that broke and my Grandpop put a toggle switch on the canister and used it
as a basement vac . I stupidly threw it out when they passed away and kept the new
one instead .

When I worked at Electrolux SA we had a sample of this one as well. I was always fascinated by it but it was Red in colour. I found the Motor placement interesting Compared to what we were used to in machines that looked like this one.

No , It was just a sample along with a black Eureka Boss . This is a picture of the boss in the one dusty sample room. Both these samples were destroyed a while later. I wish I could get one of each of them. I was fasinated by Eureka having never heard of the name before then.
I never got a pic of the Ultra

I will have to import them from the USA when I can find them and a easy way to get them here

I've never understood....what is the point of buying a NIB vacuum, leaving it in the box, hiding it away and then never using it? What joy is there in that? To me, a vacuum is to be used...I don't care whether it is new or old. I get enjoyment out of using it....not letting it sit in a box in a corner.

Just my opinion.

Gary

I think the idea is to preserve it for the future. How nice will it be in 30 years to see an unscratched machine.

Look I see it from both sides though , I admire Dans patients I could never do it I am like a kid in a candy store with new machines. I love to use them to hear them run for the first time and the smell of the newness .
I love to have my machines on display but then I am privileged enough to own a vacuum shop to do this in and I also have a amazing wife who lets me dot them around the house.

That said what is the difference between putting it in a storage room if you dont have the space and leaving it neatly wrapped in its box. when you have a few hundred machines it becomes impossible to keep them all out on display

I guess I just am not a true collector (hoarder?) because I would not want several hundred vacs shoved or even neatly stored in a room or several rooms. What's the point if all they are going to do is sit there, never used, looked at, etc.?

I have about 400 to 500 at the moment. I display allot of them at my office, I plan to display even more as soon as the space becomes available for us to extend. I love to have all the ones I like and even some of the ones I don't like.
I like to see the difference in designs Through the ages and especially here in SA stop them from ending up in the trash heap.

I am definitely a collector and not a hoarder as I don't collect them for no point. Also if I have more than one of a model I try and pass it on to other collectors.

I find it strange how if some one has a barn full of pristine cars they are highly revered amoungst the car collecting community but with vacuums if you have many you are frowned apon and consider a Hoarder.

I like to see all the different models and how they changed over the years.

The point Gary is

kirbyloverdan's profile picture
It's what I enjoy and just as Garteth said years down the road a brand new collector will benefit from my collection or Hoard as you call it .

Most people are also a bit jealous of me because I can own every vacuum my heart desires I really don't care about what those people think .

I love being able to have my collection in my storage room or where ever they may be in my home and use a different vacuum when ever the mood hits me . To each their own enjoy your collection your way and I enjoy mine my way ;)

Who knows when I retire I may open an East Coast vacuum museum ;)

Very nice Patriot you have there. If you don't mind me asking, what is the LCD screen for in the back? And what hose, wand & PN are they using now, still the Wessell EBK340? Are they still using paper bags or have they made a HEPA bag? Perhaps if you could post a pic of the entire vac w/ attachments, that would be nice for all of us to see.

I haven't seen it yet in person (just know the right peo

It was just released.
They are using the same plasti-flex hoses they have been using for a while. They have a few power head choices, the SEBO ET-1 or the Wessel-werk EBK360 and the classic SEBO ET-C.

They have enclosed bags that they have been offering for some time. HEPA filter is now flush with the machine making it not stick out as far.

The screen which I'm not 100% sure if its been released yet. But its supposed to monitor the filters and there is a function to set it to air filtration mode. I've heard in the future it will be able to do many more functions, almost like a smart phone. They really are thinking about the next generation of vacs.

Also has an improved motor made just for them, quieter, more powerful and almost 2 pounds lighter then previous models. I haven't got my hands on one yet but I will soon, and will post many more pics and other details. I enjoy seeing what other high end vacs are coming out with. Even kirby who has given us a new color lol

Here is a pic of a brochure I've got.

Tristar CS

Hey Dan,

Are they using another different motor in the CS? Last I knew they were using Hong Kong-based Johnson Electric (p/n motor supplier) motors from the Legacy and Guardian Ultra in this unit. Specs were 86" water and 432 on airwatts which was better than the Elux AB-Domel VM3 but were not brushless. What are the new performance specs? They also have two nice new air systems from their Canadian partner under the Tristar logo also.

Dan, great vacs, thx for posting.
NIB makes a lot of sense to me actually. First running old machines requires you to stock the consumables and that gets to be a pain. Next, who wants to have hundreds of dirty vacs around? Also it actually helps control the growth of the herd as the vintage ones are far more rare.
So when i think about it, ideally i see having a few daily drivers, NIB's (which store so much better), and a few project vacs that had to be saved or modified for the personal touch.
Some day the twain of what i have will meet what i think i should have...right, lol.

Which reminds me to say, if you bring too much rationality -and by that i mean almost any unless that's your thing- into the vacuum collecting equation, all the fun gets drained out.
Party on Dan...

That is so true Dan. Many people blame the chinese for poor quality mean while its the fat cat Ceo.s of the company in their own country that tell the chinese to make it cheaper.
One thing about China anything is possible. If you want it cheaper they will do it. If you want Rolls Royce quality they can do it too. It all comes down to what the CEO,s in the western world want to pay.

Understand that but most collectors can't comprehend this fact that some companies do actually pay for quality .

Well they arrived 😍

I received the new HEPA cloth bags for my new Aerus Lux Guardian Platinum the card board is very thick and they got rid of the weak spot the handle the you would use to pull the bag out of the machine .

My machine has only leaked once with the bags that came with the machine once Aerus took my original bags back and sent me the improved paper bags my machine has been dust free inside the bag chamber . Aerus claims a 250% improvement in filtration as compared to the paper bags I don't think the HEPA filter will ever get dirty :)

I only ordered these because I like this type of bag and basically because I can .

My Extensive collection part 6

Dan,
You lost me .
What are you referring to in a 250% increase in filtration when they already were claiming almost perfect filtration with all the filters?
Unlike other users, you stated you had no leakage with the former paper bags.
If the bags are not leaking why would they claim a 250% increase in filtration and why would they go to the expense to change the bags?

Also what are your referring to "because I can"? Are these new Hepa bags available to all users or just available in certain areas?

Aerus bags were always high filtration now they are even higher filtration right on the package it says 250% better filtration the best just got better how are you lost ?
Can't something perfect be improved ?

And because I LOVE HEPA cloth bags I bought out Hoovers remaining stock of style B bags for my Aerus 8lb Fresh Era upright and for all the Hoover & Royal light weights John Gregory of Sweeper Central in Dunmore Pa gifted me . I now own every last HEPA cloth B bag that TTI had left in stock 200 in total you can never have enough bags thanks to my great friend John Gregory

Here in NJ we don't

Rake leaves or pine needles we VACUUM them 😜

My cub cadet leaf vacuum sure comes in handy this time of the year .

Yes Gareth you spotted my new White Mercedes ML350 SUV in the driveway I now own 3 two SUVs and a convertible 😁 I got white because I'm usually black only but this was a great buy so it's my good guy car .

They tried to sell me a Red one cheaper but I said only old ladies approaching their 60s drive red cars
my mother has a red Mercedes and I only see old woman in red cars .

Ugh

Red is so...how do I say it without sounding arrogant, blah. Black on black for me only. So glad the high end vacs switched to black. I don't care how hard black is to keep clean that's why they make high end products and I drive an hour to have my car detailed at a renowned shop.

Okay how do you get away with limo tint? I kept on getting pulled over in Fl for mine & actually had to take it off while Mr. Ocifer watched & boy did he make sure nothing was left. Ruined my rear window defogger & his comment was that I shouldn't have put it on in the first place. It looks totally stupid with regulation tint I mean why bother tinting at all?? I wish I told him him off..

Because I didn't... 😜

Shark but this beats it hands down I LOVE the scrub brush it works so good to scrub the tile grout with the power of steam .

Thanks again John Gregory I really appreciate all the gifts .

Ceramic tile and marble but I can see that happening especially if you over wet the floors by using too much steam .

My best friend has been using a steam mop on his hard wood floors for 5 years and he uses it every other day but goes light on the steam and his floors are still perfect .

These floors were installed here when the house was built in 1986 & still look new. I just take a damp towel to them section at a time then go back over with another towel tied onto a broom to dry them with. We have very little ceramic tile only in the mud room/laundry room & the baths have linoleum. Now the house in Fl had marble & only once did I have to rent a machine with a diamond pad on to re-grind them then polish them which turned out fabulous!!!

Because I did/knew how to! 😛 LOL

Truer words have never been spoken. Funeral and real estate are similar, like you said nothing but the best, thats why they use Cadillac, Lincoln, Chrysler, some even use Mercedes vehicles in funerals.

You have no idea how many funerals I have been to and wound up listing my friends or loved ones home we survive off each other I belive . Plus I send my clients to my local favorite funeral home when a loved one passes .

Nothing but the best cars to drive to show a home or take you home ;)

If I wasn't so sensitive I would love to be in the Funeral business but I think I'd be crying too much 😢

I have it in my will that if I pass I only want to ride in the back of my Mercedes SUV that's what I want and my friends at the Funeral Parlor know that and will honor my last wishes .

It's an ok vacuum but this extra special treatment goes a long way and more companies should practice this kind of customer service .

They asked me two questions after seeing I was pleased with the way I was treated as a valuable customer .

1. What I liked most about Shark I said customer service .

2. What I liked least about shark I said machine needs to be multi cyclonic instead of single .

I have to look for "the party flag". This is a cool idea we came up with ...someone puts a party flag out in their yard with time & date which everyone is invited to in the neighbourhood. So far it's been a hit in this small area.. byob or whatever for 2 hours where we catch up on what each of us has been doing/going & it's never boring as I only missed 1 as I was too tired after a 6 mile hike in the mountains.

Unissued-unused vacuums NIB-I JUST CAN'T resist--have to use it!!!I purchased the Riccar Radiance many years ago too, when they first came out.I like the machines but like the Kirbys better. Now,if the airpath in the tandem air machies was simpler-the performance would be even BETTER-and I would like to see a bell nozzle instead of the square base. The bell nozzles just get into corners, around furniture and closer to walls, and you can use EITHER side of the nozzle! No being blocked by a belt housing or the "weak" side where the suction intake isn't.

In the Generation Series the unused NIB G4 I loved the blue color when it came out .
I had two but sold my used one to my friend Nora after I gave it to my parents to use
when I was trying to convert them to Kirby that didn't work as they are diehard Aerus fans .

This is from July of 1993 it has the 80th anniversary handle which I bought the label when it arrived in 1994 .

Nice Kirby NIB 80th Anniversery Edition!Someone on here mentioned the new Kirbys were supposed to come out in December-and also when the Sentria 2's have all been sold out.So Avalir fans will have to wait a month or two.Sort of think this is kinda strange--most of the time new vacuum models are introduced in the Spring. At this late arrival-folks are going to be wrapped up in Thanksgiving,Christmas, and New Years before thinking of buying any new vacuums of any sort-I am not talking about us collectors-but the "average" folks out there. If the Avalirs are going to be sold during Holidays-the salesmens work is sure cut out for them! But we may get to find out how well the Avalir cleans up Christmas tree needles!LOTS of piney smelling new vacuums out there!

I called my guy yesterday he said he was going to the docks to pick up an order that just came in he said it was 100 Kirby's but he has no idea if they will be Avalirs or Sentria IIs .
If they are not Avalirs then he will have to sell all 100 Sentria IIs before he revives the Avalirs .
We shall see stay tuned ;)

I talked to someone higher up,in kirby yesterday and she said no one will be getting them until the stock of sentria II are gone. I asked if around the begging of December and she said that is probably a safe bet. I called several dealers and they were caught off guard that I knew what the avalier was, of course there was the one dealer that had people working that didn't even know of it.

They are lucky slowly but surely they will be released as each state has to sell a certain amount of
Sentria IIs aloted to them . I am hoping its soon at least before 2014 is over .
I have two ordered plus one of the new multi floor care kits .

Hi,

Dan, I hope you get one before Christmas.... I'm looking forward to you reporting back on what the Avalir is like in person. We'll be lucky over here to see it before Feb/March next year for a guess.

I've been looking at the Avalir proof book and it looks great. I like how the red letter Ks on the bag are only on the front and not the side/back. I also like how they've changed the front wheels on it. I'm looking forward to trying the new multi-surface shampooer.

Jealousy is an emotion, and the word typically refers to the negative thoughts and feelings of insecurity, fear, and anxiety over an anticipated loss of something of great personal value, particularly in reference to a human connection. Jealousy often consists of a combination of emotions such as anger, resentment, inadequacy, helplessness and disgust. In its original meaning, jealousy is distinct from envy, though the two terms have popularly become synonymous in the English language, with jealousy now also taking on the definition originally used for envy alone. Jealousy is a typical experience in human relationships. It has been observed in infants five months and older.[1][2][3][4] Some claim that jealousy is seen in every culture;[5][6][7] however, others claim jealousy is a culture-specific phenomenon.[8]

Jealousy is often reinforced as a series of particularly strong emotions and constructed as a universal human experience; it has been a theme of many artistic works. Psychologists have proposed several models of the processes underlying jealousy and have identified factors that result in jealousy. Sociologists have demonstrated that cultural beliefs and values play an important role in determining what triggers jealousy and what constitutes socially acceptable expressions of jealousy. Biologists have identified factors that may unconsciously influence the expression of jealousy. Artists have explored the theme of jealousy in photographs, paintings, movies, songs, plays, poems, and books. Theologians have offered religious views of jealousy based on the scriptures of their respective faiths.

Pleas try to find peace in your lives and maybe one day you'll be blessed as I have been 🙏

What does jealousy have to do with your posting behaviour on Vacuumland? Sure, some members here may be jealous of you....that's only natural since you have such a large & varied collection that not many others can match. But that has NOTHING to do with your posting behaviour, & is NOT a reasonable excuse to cause arguments, insult or belittle other members. And has it ever occured to you that maybe perhaps being insulting, belittling & causing arguments with other members may be helping to cause that jealousy in them in the first place?

All I know is, so far 17 other members here on Vacuumland have "liked" my comment. Maybe it's time for you to reflect on your posting behaviour & style & maybe be a little bit kinder & gentler to other members here on Vacuumland. I'm sure we would all regret seeing your posts on here if Unimatic1140 decided to delete & ban you from the site.

It's time to close this thread and start a new one.

Enough with the insults and bickering in this thread, if you don't like the posting style of a particular member, you can block them or simply don't read their threads. If you continue to read their posts then you have no one to blame but yourself.

If I see anyone post anymore personal attacks, it will be the last time they post anything.
