Hey Vacuumlanders! I wanted to do a "project" with my Kirby G4. I do apologize for seeming like a newbie, because I am :) However, I am on a low budget. I have both a Kirby G3 & G4. I am basically in love with the Kirby G6 color scheme. I wanted to know if anybody has taken a kirby motor but has used a different handle, outer bag, nozzle, etc. As said before I am on a low budget and I would rather not go on eBay or Craigslist to find a G6, then have to pay to ship it or even worse go pick it up. Basically I would consider this as a "Kirby Conversion" Its unusual but hey its worth a try!

If anybody could leave a suggestion, or even a comment or personal experience with anything like this I would be greatly appreciative!

Have a nice day!
-Nick

You should have no problem as far as trim, only the headlight and belt lifter could get tricky! surprised

The Kirby G3,G4,G5,G6,G7 all have interchangeabe parts with the exception of the brushroll. The older G series have the magnet on the left side of the brushroll as it is on the right on newer models. not sure what year they changed that. Yon can use the newer brushroll in an older machine, but the green brushroll indicator wont light up. The outer bag, handle and floor nozzle are all interchangeable, except on the Sentrias as the powerplant has different shape than older models.

Hope this helps you out.

You can also update the headlight cap to the more rounded style that was introduced on the G5. If you do that, you'll probably want to use the new belt lifter style too.

They have how to videos for things like replacing the beltlifter. Not a hard job. You can also find handle fork labels on ebay and not have to switch out the fork. If the label on the G4 is in good shape you could put the label over it. If not you would have to remove the old, which is a little hard to do.
