So jealous!!!!

That's unheard of! What kind of person spends 2000+ $$$ (however much they're up to now) on a brand new Kirby then trashes it?!?!

Oooof. What a find. Two large sitting on the side of the road. Guess you can call it a Curby

Now think about how many people drove by that vacuum and didn't see what you saw. Lucky? Yes, but luck is when preparation meets opportunity. In a way you earned that one. Good job.

Well, obviously, it's got to be someone who's got a lot more money than they do sense! If I wanted to get rid of a brand new Kirby Sentria II, it would be going up on Ebay to the highest bidder.

Michael - Congratulations on your find! And right now, I am VERY jealous of you!! You must have stars shooting out your butt to find something like this for free at the side of the road. Hey, mind if we meet up & I rub your head for luck, please??

Rob

PS- Just kidding! :-)

Great and unusual find!!Its so mysterious--Why would someone just set out an expensive vacuum????Did it have the attachments, too?Even if not still a great find-and can't complain about the price!!!Someone else took the "hit"!!!

I'll bet you dollars to donuts, there's a finance company looking for that machine. It's not uncommon for folks to pawn off their Kirby, and stop making payments on it. Most Kirby vacuums are financed, the percentage of people who actually pay for it in full are probably less than 5%. I'd bet if you run the serial number, it will come up as stolen. I noticed that the serial number plate (paper) between the rear wheels is missing. Wonder if the serial number by the sani-emptor connection has been ground off or obliterated?

Agree with Tom

filterqueenman's profile picture

I am leaning toward stolen.  Why would the SN be missing.  My guess is they tried to pawn it and without the SN the pawn shop said no.

I would check into it.  I had a friend who was given a Gateway Computer many years ago.  She had problems with it and called Gateway tech support for assistance.  Three days later a police detective showed up at her house, confiscated the computer and charged her with receipt of stolen goods.

While the charge did not stick as she told them how she got it and the name of the person - she still had to hire a lawyer and go through court.  While I do not want to rain on your parade the old saying....

If you don't have a serial number it will be nearly impossible to track it. Then again I did a few years ago find the then current E Series Rainbow at a thrift store for $20, someone just got rid of it.

Used Kirbys have next to no resale value around here, I could buy almost any one prior to this one for $20 or less if I had my heart set on it. I had trouble finding a taker on my one G6 a few years ago and it was like new.

Stolen maybe? Or maybe about to be re-poed? Well that certainly dampens the joy of the find. Darn.

It IS a great score. There are two additional places on the Kirby, inside, where the hidden serial numbers are. Tacony has hidden serial numbers for their ultra premium and tandem air models. Rainbow has hidden serial numbers. Filter Queen does not, to my knowledge.

Where are the serial #s hidden on a Kirby?  Do Compact/TriStar have hidden serial #s?

So I called my local distributor and they said that they paid it off already so then it came to me what if the owners got kicked out of ther house and this vac was left in there the Kirby guy said that they got another one so I ain't tripping lol

Post# 297963 , Reply# 17   9/10/2014 at 23:08 (3,512 days old) by man114 (Buffalo NY)

Maybe they moved and just left it, too much hassle to pack for the move, and new owners didn't want it. Sometimes if you've got the income to blow this might not be that big a purchase. I know people that seem like they've got nothing based on how they live and a Kirby is half a pay check.

your butt should be in school - looking towards the future and what you plan to do for the next 60+ years to support yourself.  I personally am not amused by the 24/7 comment....where is your parents???  I would no more allow my 16 year old to be out of the house past 10pm then the man on the moon.

Please for the love of God get your priorities straight...education / future....  That is it!

For the record I don't buy any of your crap - just sayin'!!

Excuse me?

What does "we teens" mean? I assume a stereotypical slur depicting the average high school student who DOESN'T KNOW PROPER GRAMMAR? I find things like this extremely offensive for the few 13-19 year olds who can act like civilized adults. I'd love for Maestro Webmaster to enforce proper grammar. This "texting language" has got to stop. Thank you.

I really wish that we could all step back and look at the bigger picture before we start judging those with spelling and grammar issues. It is my personal belief that we have a high rate of Autism and other disorders among vacuum collectors which would explain some of the outlandish behavior from a few individuals on this site. The above poster and others like him may have a learning disability. The majority of us here probably have been bullied at least once in his lifetime. We should all know what bullying feels like and that it can really damage a person especially at a young age.

June&Ward&Beaver&Wally may not have been real life even in--

1959 any more than 'Dick & Jane' were before them. And certainly not now.But if something is out of 'our'ordinary how to we go from a trash find that I among others was happy to hear of to,and I don't think this is to strong, calling someone A LIAR!!
I of course join in hoping that there is school, family and friends that that help one another in Tracy for now and the future. The "24/7"comment might have meant 'available time'.
Why would a great and costly item be on the curb?In my area there are at least 2 common reasons. We have a nearby college with rows of apartments that often have new and modern furnishings. When students leave at the end of school, many for a good job and some in small sports cars, much is discarded. We also have a nearby industry that can have executives from Europe or elsewhere.Again when it is time to return home extra furniture or appliances are of little concern.

Why texting language?I don't like it and am waiting for Alexander Bell to spin in his grave. But not everyone uses a real keyboard at all times with so many devices.
If Michaels family, friends, neighbors, school and community work for him who are we to say otherwise?I wish him and his Kirby and everything in his life well.

I’m very sensitive to bullying. I was bullied at a young age on more than one occasion because of my vacuum obsession. I was also bullied in high school over a different matter. I’ve never understood the whole grammar and spelling issue. If you don’t like someone’s post then don’t read it! I don’t understand why people just can’t look the other way.

Great find Michael! I would love to have a Sentria II.

I agree..

I was bullied all thru school, and it is not fun, I did have some fun a few years ago though, one of the bully's actually the worst one, is now a real estate agent in my hometown, he had a house listed that I wanted to see, so I went to his office, of course he acted like I was a long lost friend...we went to look at the house, and as we were riding along, I said, You dont remember all the hell you put me thru as a kid do you??? He said, well that was just kids stuff, you were a little different, so you opened yourself up for that kind of thing...I replied, yeah, but now Im not afraid anymore, I keep a 38 special handy to even the playing field...he turned as white as a sheet...needless to say, he was glad to get me back to his office!!LOL..I didnt have my pistol with me, but the idea sure scared hell out of him!!
