Hello! Nice to see another new member AND someone else from the UK!!
Since Miele sell at most major providers, price increases and decreases are happening far wider than with Bosch and SEBO. Eventually prices may drop for the current SEBO range when their eco versions are sold in the UK, but for the moment price decreases are minimal compared to the "savings" of old versus new. Secondly if you want to trade up weight for lightness, then go for the new "C" named models from Miele. I have an old Miele S5211 Red Pearl and an S8340 Ecoline purchased last year. The S8 Ecoline replaces an old S6 Ecoline that I never liked that much. Personally the S8 models are superb whatever you decide - the S8340 is slightly noisier even though it is rated at 1200 watts than the 1800 watt S5 but I find the S8 is also a touch lighter to carry about. It also has a 7.5 metre cable which the minimum I would require in my home. The Miele S5 has one metre less of cord length. Performance wise, the SEBO K3 is a good choice but then it has 2100 watts of power for the moment - if you can get it at a good price, it is a worthy rival. However, the hose alone is slightly heavier than their non-electric units - what you get as a bonus with the SEBO is a 5 year guarantee as standard and twice as many dust bags for around the same cost pound wise - the capacity of which mirrors Miele's smaller FJM series fitted to the Miele S4 and S6 models. All Miele dust bags come in 4 bags per box. This is an exciting time for buyers though. The attraction of pricing versus weight, and design elements means the market is wider than before. The new "C" models don't really have much of a difference IMHO over the older ranges of Miele vacs. I trialled the new C3 S8 Ecoline Silence Plus at John Lewis a couple of weeks ago and I was impressed; it is even quieter than the S8 Ecoline model I own and it is indeed lighter to lift. |
