Well, on a Royal Pony to be exact, lol. Even though I had promised myself no new vacs until I pared the collection due to space and financial constraints, it was too good to pass up!

I have wanted a Royal tank ever since I was in the 4th grade, our school librarian bought a Dirt Devil broom vac to do the wall to wall carpet in the library between classes, and let me keep the all the paperwork, which is where I first spotted the Royal Pony tank.

Since the house was redone a few months ago, most of the rooms are smaller, and the flooring is all hardwood and linoleum, soon to be all hardwood, with just area rugs. A canister is the ideal choice, and I just cant seem to make friends with my Compact, Royal to the rescue!

Here is the pic from the eBay auction, it should arrive in a few days. 30 for the royal plus 33 shipping for a total of 63 seemed fair, what do you guys think?

Vintage . . .

I’m really not a tank guy, usually gravitate to canisters but there is something about those Royals that is very appealing. Part of it is the blue color of the attachments, it’s pretty and unique. Plus they are simple but have enough chrome to look stylish and plenty of suction I’m told. I’d say $63 for a good running tank or canister with the tools is a great deal, you can buy the vacs all day long for that or less but it seems like few come with tools and buying those piecemeal is pricey if you can find them.

What do you not like about your Compact? My only real gripe is the lack of onboard tool storage. For me that’s a big deal and why I snagged a Filter Queen recently but every time I lift that Queen - she weights more than a pre Tech Drive Kirby - I miss the lightness of the Compact.
