It's got a white hood and the bag holder has been replaced. They claim it's in very good condition but it has these problems and it's rusty on the bottom.

I might be interested but not at that price with those problems. Do you guys agree?

That seller seems to have notoriously high prices for vintage vacs. Obviously not a collector the seller probably doesn’t even know that the hood is a replacement. If I ever decided decide to sell one of my 69s (which is in better shape) I would never ask eighty five dollars for it. It’s not worth it.

Maybe $25 who knows how long to get the rust off. Just because it's vintage doesn't justify the high cost. The rust isn't vintage so that shouldn't count...lol

It's also not the correct bag

a;though, a close match. WE all know that bag is a snap bag with a spring. THAT nachine is on ebay now, too. That cleaner saw a verey good time to warrant a replacement hood and bag. And, I know hoods!

Wasn't the font on the original bag different, John?

And where did that white hood come from? Is that a generic replacement?

Let that vac go. $85 plus shipping is not worth it for that vac. That description is the same description that seller writes for all his convertibles.

I wasn't going to buy it. I was just interested about its quirks.

Thanks for pointing that out John! I didn’t even the notice the bag. I can see where they would replace the diving board bag holder with a spring. I’m sure most of you already know that it was a weak point in Convertibles that had the diving board handle. The cord looks like it is a replacement as well.

I know this is a discussion about model 69's but if anyones interested I have a model 31 that's all original that I could let go of.

The hood...

stricklybojack's profile picture
is a recall replacement hood, is it not? Didn't Kirbydan post a pic of a hood like that on one of his family's Convertibles saying it was replaced by Hoover because the originals would deform somehow?

Some of the earlier Convertible hoods were known to melt and deform from the heat generated by the motor! surprised
