At my vacuum shop, taken in trade, looks like new, sounds lovely, what would it be worth?

A picture would be worth 1000 words. Going by the colors, I suggest this to be a model 8000 or 9000.

yes, good point! All I remember was 6 amps, and wide wheels, bag kind of speckled marron/ pinkish, happy sounding motor

I have the prince model like that with the same bag you were describing but the cord is maroon not white. I know the one you're talking about I almost bought it with the prince but I didn't like the step adjustment

Here's what the 9000 would look like: it is similar to the 992/993 only in mauve and burgundy. It will have a toe-touch height adjustment instead of the Rite-Hite screw-type adjuster.

Very close, I don't think the label on the bag is the same, other wise, dead hit

I think I have to go back and barter, just always wanted one, the Blue makes me melt, not so much this color, but it sounded lovely and looked new!

David, I have the 8000 which only differences are my cord is the matching trim color, and has the screw type height adjuster, which I actually prefer. All my carpeting is the same pile type, so adjustments arent'
really necessary. The 6 amp. motor, and a brushroll with the stiffners will provide great satisfaction. It's in my rotation of frequent use, much lighter than a Kirby, but cleans just as well IMHO. I think I just heard my 20some Kirbys pop their belts over that comment! I don't know about your neck of the woods, but here Royals tend to sit in a vac shop longer than uprights with attachments, just because of today's mentality of vac shoppers. Try offering him $75.00 and watch for a facial reaction, you've got nothing to lose. Most of my Kirbys are buffed, and that alone costs me $50.00. So, take it from there if it's in that nice of shape, and you don't want to piss off the owner either...lol. I'm trusting it has been serviced as well, so it's not like you picked it from a dumpster, or a yard sale. Good luck!

Great info! It does have the brush stiffeners, noticed that, it is lighter than my Kirby, very much new looking and they are Royal dealers, maybe took it in trade. Nice guys have done business there for years. asking 150 I assume with warranty. Going back over tomorrow and have a talk.Thanks.

Well, talk went well. Taken in trade, very low miles, he went through to check and clean, it needed nothing, was like new inside. $100 bought it! Pic attached. Lovely machine to use and hear.

What colour would the optional attachment kit for this machine have been? Burgundy?

there are vents? on top of the brush roll housing, is this to prevent clamping down from suction or is it also for some freshener tablets/ essence of some kind?

Got its first real workout yesterday on the landlady's old THICK white plush, normally I only use the concept 1 there, others have no effect. The Royal out cleaned? in my mind the concept. I could feel it beating, carpet was more brushed up and lifted and it almost pulled itself forward. Impressed!

David,

Here's a Royal 6000 from the same year, built same month:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Royal-Kirby-Meta...

I'm not sure if the black Adjust-O-Rite plate belongs here or not - I'd like to think not.
