Hi
Can anyone advise me as to what type of paint I would need to repaint my aged 638, she's a bit tired looking now and I want to give her a little facelift

I'm not sure of the type of paint to use

Thanks
David

It depends on what colour scheme your machine. Some were Grey and dark blue others like mine were light blue and dark blue.

Near me in Ferndown is a firm called rainbow paints. When I resprayed the handle of my 119 I took the crevice tool to them and they scanned it with some type of machine and they got a 98% colour match.

They then gave me a can of spraypaint that was specially made. It was a bit expensive but worth it. When it comes to restoring much loved vacs no price is too much. It looks like it just came out of the factory. I am lucky the snap on cover is in practically new condition as that would be very hard to respray without ruining it as the lettering would be impossible to reproduce. Juat a few touch-ups with an artists brush to cover the very minimal marks did the trick.

The paint was worth it as there are no colours on the market that will match as hoover seemed to have unique colours. If there is not a rainbow paints near you I am sure there is some kind of specialist paint shop around. These paint shops can reproduce any colour you want.

Best of luck with your vac project!!

Repaint

Thanks Hoover119dude
we don't have a Rainbow Paints near here but do you think B&Q could do it?

They have a colour match machine where you can take any colour item and they match the paint

It maybe worth a try!

Thanks again
David

They might if they do custom spraypaints. If not check around for specialist paint shops.
