Of course, Mark! But I can think of a way to get those clovers to SHINE! tongue-out

A foot switch on a convertible? Do you think they were just using up discontinued parts? I had thought the metal Guardsman was the last of those, but then again, I am not a Hoover expert....

It is a dual voltage model. Very cool.

Looks like a pair of U5133-940s in the top photo. Mine is burgundy colored like one of the two depicted. Where do they fit into the Hoover universe in terms of quality, cleaning ability and desirability?

Great Finds!

bagintheback's profile picture

Does the Heavy Duty Convertible have plastic-wrap on the hood, or is it just extremely shiny? Those Elites must be from the early-mid 1990s. I had no idea they kept the vault stocked with new models for so long! I hope everything is going well up there on the east coast. I must visit sometime.

Those Elites are great!

My aunt has the soft bag version. If you like Elites....they're right up there. These vacs, I thinnk, MAY have been turned on ONCE. They'll be played with in October at the "Monster Mash Bash III" There is NO plastic on that black Heavy Duty... it IS that shiny!!!!!!

I am with Rainbow now! I left FilterQueen in February due to issues with the demo that I think meshed with the machines performance and other administrative issues. Rainbow is good.

John a Monster Bash sounds fun, we need to get in touch!!

I've never seen a "residential grade" Convertible with foot switch before. I like the idea but I also really love the white flick switch on rounded handle that Hoover had. Call me Goofy- but-- I really like the sound and feel of that white flick switch. LOL

I've seen many of the burgundy colored Preferred uprights but don't recall any of those teal green ones. That is a gorgeous color. Looks like the same teal green found on top of suction unit for a Hoover Futura Supreme canister S3567. One will have to pop up on eBay soon for me to send a picture in unless someone has a spec sheet or actual S3567 to post. Boscovs used to sell them while many other stores had the navy blue suction unit color topped Hoover Futura Supreme S3569 power nozzle canister. Both models had a headlight Futura styled power head.

I just moved out of Altoona, Pa last month. RedGeminiPA occasionally posts on here and he is in Altoona. Not sure his plans with various things going on if he's up for visitors. XRaytech is in Pittsburgh area.

I'm now outside State College again. I have about 10 vacuums but only 2 carpeted rooms-- bedrooms. I'm not really a good MiniMeet style house that way with my friends living here too and few vacuums. Sorry about that! I can travel short distances though if something comes up.
