Continuing on the theme of fun vac videos from Japan...here's one demonstrating a new pink bagless compact vac from Toshiba. It appears to be created by an online vac store.

Some interesting features stand out:

Really small vac...kind of like that Dyson City vac.

Unusual style of plastic wand which is not circular in profile....kind of like that Sanyo bagged canister we saw here in North America.

Really unusual brush roll in the floor nozzle! Seems to be designed for Tatame mats as demonstrated in the clip.

And what vac-lover would not mind owning a pink vac!!! :-)

Yes. It is surprising how good there vacuum designs are. This is nothing to snuff at.

When I was in Japan, in a superstore they had there cant remember what it was called, they had mainly bagless cylinders vacuums made by companies like Panasonic, Toshiba, Sharp, Pananasonic, Sharp and even Mitsubishi along with a few you don't get over here. They came in an all manor of colours like greens, reds and oranges. They are beautifully styled and beautifully made and detailed, usually all made in Japan. In fact, a lot of stores have sections of products, like isles, specifically for Japanese manufactured goods, and Japanese companies like Toshiba and Seiko, have "J" models, meaning Japanese made.

By nature, these are people who do not put up with cheap tat and like products that work, and the flooring they have out there is mainly hard, as well as those tatami matts which are difficult to clean and need a good agitation. They do have carpets, but mainly just large area rugs.

Why on earth these companies can't start importing these cleaners to Europe and North America is beyond me became they would go down a storm.

You know!!Kinda like that mans demo even though I couldn't understand what he was saying-that vacuum is kinda neat-and its unusual brushroll-designed for the cane mat type flooring.I want one becuase its just kinda neat-and like its color. When I would be done usuing it-just slurp out its bin with the M1.Wished those were sold in the US-but if they were-probably would have a difffent brushroll.

I figured out which of the Japanese lettering means "vacuum cleaner"....I'll start another single thread for anything I find....

I agree: they have some really cool cleaners over there along with familiar brands like Miele and Dyson and Electrolux.

But the hoses are really short, the noise level seems quite high (compared to the quiet Japanese bagged vacs we all know about) and the small dusting brushes look horrible!
