Looks interesting if anyone is interested. I have a beige one already so I'm not jumping on this one. The price is reasonable.

Ugh,I would be all over that Kenmore if it wasn't for two things: the drive to Gainesville for one, and that $100 price tag! tongue-out

Interesting, it's a different tool garden than mine. Mine is probably not correct for that model but for a later version with a beige body.

Someone just bought a pretty clean 3.5 of this same series with all the tools, Powermate and a good hose, all beige with brown graphics and brown tools, on ebay for $129 plus $45 shipping. That is on the expensive side for one of these. See what a new hose for one of these costs you. I just bought one and it was nearly as much as that ebay 3.5 sold for. In that light this vac isn't a terrible deal, especially if you are looking for one of these to round out a collection.

Look at the photo of the tool tray where it is sitting in the bag compartment. What is missing?

The red spout the bag attaches to and that has a flat end that slides into the vacuum is missing. It looks like the bag is just poked over the end of the hose where it protrudes into the bag compartment. Without the red bag spout the vacuum is more or less useless. The bag will never seal over the hose, suction will be poor and dirt will always escape into the bag compartment and foul the filter and motor.

Don't ask me how I know this .................. :o

Too rich for my blood. I don't pay that much for anything 40 years old... or 20 for that matter, especially if I have to add shipping.

Without the red spout it is not much more than a decoration.

The last couple of years Kenmore produced those lunch boxes you could get them with a 4.1 peak horsepower motor. When everything is nice and tight and you have good leak free hoses they are very good machines. Plenty of suction.

Under the wood grain that Powermate isn't much different than a modern Hayden Delux or current issue Powermate. You can swap motors, belts and brushes from the new machines into those old Powermates and keep them running more or less indefinitely. A new style base (which you need if you adopt the modern brush) is a direct swap for the old part. Everything else just plugs right in.

That vacuum is on my list to find, but in green. Why do vacuums of this vintage never show up in thrift stores? First gen Progressives plenty, and some Whispertones, but never anything before the 5055 era. I guess they are too old and rare now.

I want one, but the same model that my mother had and I never see one for sale :(

My uncle still has a one and it's in blue color.

They're around. I've seen a few advertised in Craigslist in the last several months and some of the later cream colored ones on ebay.
