What would you have brought home?

The $30 Kenmore Whispertone with a non functioning brush roll? Yes I tried the reset button and reinserting the hose correctly.

Or the $8 Constellation by another name with off color exhaust port cover and no tools,

or the $15 Eureka Hoover Elite wanna be,

or the $13 Aerus FreshEra 8lb vac?

That $8 constellation is a old compact before they started making them with wheels. I hade the fresh era good price for $13 & bags are the royal top fill. I would take all but the eureka wanna B.

The Whimpertone would have followed me home like a happy puppy. Anything in that Powermate is easy-peasy to fix. The Connie would have been hard to pass up too. Anything can be repainted and tools and hoses can be found in time with patience and persistence.

Take the Kenny!!!!

Makes a great suction only machine and you can buy all the Kenmore tools you need in any Sears store.

Mind you, the Aerus is a very new machine....maybe that one for your carpets?

Get that FreshEra!

You would be stealing that for $13! It can't be that old, and they are like $300 new! The Revalation doesn't look like it's in the best of shape. The Kenmore looks nice, but I wouldn't want to deal with the powerhead issue. I don't care much for those Eureka Bravo's. Loud, cheap, low reliability, did I mention they are LOUD? A very cool selection of machines though. Most that come up around here turn out to be overpriced cheap bagless junk.

You know it might not be the brush that is bad on the Kenmore. You would have to see if you have 115 volts at the end of the hose to know. If you don't, see if there is power at the three prong receptacle on the vacuum. If you have power there then the problem is in the hose, either at the swivel or at the switch. If there is no power to the receptacle at the canister then the problem is the relay in the motor compartment. Not too hard to figure out and they are pretty inexpensive to repair. Those Panasonic made Powermates are pretty simple too and easily repaired. If you have juice at the end of the hose, see if you have power at the bottom of the wand. If you do, it is simple to pop the brush open and test to see if you have power to the motor. Go from there. You might have a severed wire like I found on my Electrolux brush. Easy fix. Swapping motors is easy-peasy too. Afterwards you can bask in that feeling of victory.

Kenmore...

I have 4 kenmore branded canisters and one Panasonic (like the newer Kenmores) already. I should post some pics of them because i just got one i have never seen before.
I actually made the trip because i saw the Kenmore yesterday and hoped it would be 50% today. Yellow was the color today and i would have bought it in it's partially disabled shape for $15 but they exempted "electronics" from their discount. So i held off. I didn't even get around to checking the brush roll or tool area.

I already have two TriStars and the didn't like the looks of the Eureka so i came home with my first Aerus branded machine and called it a day.

I'm with marks_here... everything but the wanna be...

But if I could only get one.. the Kenmore, as D-T said, the PN is an easy repair.

The thrift store in question...

stricklybojack's profile picture
my hard found honey-holes will remain a secret but i'd be happy to pick up and hold something for someone coming to San Diego by Labor day. You would need to paypal me the money in advance. If it requires a special trip i would ask $5 for gas. In a few years i will probably be living here full time again and will be selling off some of my collection at that time. I just don't have the time to ship any vacuums right now.

Rats! That Revelation is one of my dream machines. I hope it goes to a good home.

Yes Compact not Constellation! The 'Revelation' name plate is cool and if i see it next time i may pick it up for a car vac with some real oomph.
