I decided not to buy another Kirby, so I went looking around in central KY and found this Kenmore Kwik Sweep for $5, in working condition .. Prior to a cleaning.

The motor does sound rough .. Perhaps the brushes need replaced, after it gets going it makes kind of a loud whiney noise

Bearings are more likely to make a whining sound than brushes unless the brushes are worn completely out and the end of the brush holder is touching the armature. I would check that whine out before you ruin an otherwise rebuildable motor.

Def will! This one is a keeper! Gonna get it cleaned up and drop it at my dads to let him take a look. I'm guessing there isn't much parts available? I wonder if the Regina parts could work?

I have to say .. After taking off the dirt cup .. This vacuum wasn't used much .. The bag is still very clean and the parts around the dirt cup is like brand new.
