Today I bought a FairFax for 20$, is not in perfect shape (it was really dusty and a little stinky). I Start to clean it today. I took some picture. The motor seen to have 2 blade :). The power nozzle come from Hoover and it was made 1975. The beater bar have some rust on it, is it damage the carpet? The hose missing a piece to control the suction.

That power-nozzle is COOL! That brush looks strait off a Dial-A-Matic!  I doubt rust will cause the carpet to implode, but you can always attempt to clean it! I love my suction-only Fairfax! I bet the nozzle and the Fairfax combine to make one kick-bwerk vacuum!

Am I seeing things right when I see a Panasonic motor in the canister? I figured they always had used Lamb motors.

Is really that motor who is in the fairfax, I don't know if they use lamb motor before of after this model.

I removed the rust on the power nozzle and put some foam to seal it.

I try the vacuum, not a great suction for a expensive vacuum.
The beater bar work good but I always see some bouncing sand on the carpet.
I hookup the power nozzle on the central vacuum and the beater bar was unable to turn because the succion on the carpet was too strong.

What is the use of that pipe? (see the last picture)

You stick it on the end of the vacuum's hose, then you stick a crevice tool, upholstery too, dusting brush etc on the other end! The hole's to provide suction to the tools wink

I used to have a late-1950s Fairfax Model S-1 with every accessory under the sun, including a very bizarre floor-polisher setup that looked like some kind of Rube Goldberg device. The polisher didn't work very well. It kept slowing down and even coming to a halt under the slightest resistance, due to the way the power was transmitted from the motor shaft to the brush.

It's a beautiful machine and fun to use, but as far as suction power went, I was underwhelmed. I, too, found it lacking in suction power.

Wow, nice kit you have there.

super-sweeper, I know the utility of a pipe, I want to know the utility of the holes at the beginning of the pipe.

The holes I talk, is at the beginning of the pipe, it on the length.
Normally, the pipe have one hole to lock the pipe together but this one don't work like that.

The button who goes normally in the hole to lock the pipe together don't fit in the holes of this pipe.

If you can find a eureka wand with the pin it will work with that. Also I have pictured the correct power nozzle that goes with that model. It is also a eureka power nozzle.

Oh! I see what you mean now! Yes, that's for a D series Rainbow! They might just be for making the removal of the hose easier.

I have two kind of wand with this vacuum.

The first set of wand is for the power nozzle. Is start a normal connection and go to Hoover connection.

The second set of wand is for the bare floor tool or another tools. It all normal connection.

The power nozzle look to come with that fairfax because the connection is the same thing and color. I have a different hose than the hose you have on your picture.
