The shape of the motor hood is very similar to the domestic Vanguard Box-Top upright 2070 from the early 1970's.
BUT: Eureka has been using that hood shape for fan-first Sanitaires right up until the present day. So this will really be hard to date unless some Vacuumlander has a spec sheet for it with a copyright date showing on the bottom. The Dial-a-Nap on this unit has a unique triangular "gripper" on it. Very rare to see that on a Eureka. Though the knob could be a replacement, if it is original, it may help place a date for this vac. |

If it has a corporate model plate sticker on the bottom, you may get another clue: if it says Eureka Williams, then it is from before 1975. If it says "The Eureka Company", then it is from after 1975. And, if it says White Consolidated Industries, it is from after 1986.
Let us know what you find if you own this machine! (Incidentally, the motor hood vents were rarely seen on Sanitaires - only on those with curved shaped 1960's style hoods. So the presence or absence of vents on this Sanitaire can't really help us date the machine....) |
