I'm excited to finally find a place to share my favorite vacuums with people that have the same interest. As you can tell I'm new so I'm still trying to figure out how to post pictures right side up. This is my new NSS, I just got it in the mail and I'm so happy now I have one that works because my other two needed way too much work and parts are very expensive. The only thing this one needs is the hose coupler and attachments and I think I'm good on outer bags because it came with three.

Wow, never heard of NSS before. Interesting company history and an interesting vac. Always learning stuff here. What is it's vintage? I see they are still in production and aren't inexpensive either. Very nice Tom. How did you ever discover this brand?

I remember the pig from one of the stores in the mall back in the late 70's. It's amazing what it can pick up & it doesn't hurt it. Congrats on your new vac!!

Thanks for the responce i feel very welcomed. I live in northeast at top of sun valley. I wish I knew it's vintage but I want to think it's from 1989. I remember the first itme I seen a pig I was 6 years old and I couldn't stop looking at it and I haven't seen one scence, I've been wanting one off and on scence 2004 now im happy I have this one but I wish I got a100th anniversary limited edition at the 2011 VDTA because they celebrated their 100th anniversary but I couldn't make it because it was in New Orleans and I had tests all week at school.

We share a birthday, separated by a little more than 30 years.. but a good day. I see you work in a vac shop. That can be a blessing or a curse. The first Pig I ever used was at my first retail job back in 1979 and I've used many since in all kinds of industries. They are easy to work on, easy to use and extremely hard to kill. Enjoy it.

NEAT!!Another happy Pig owner-ENJOY!!As its name says the Pig can eat just about anything.One of mine cleaned up after a basement remodel job at a freinds house-My Pig ate nails,wire,cable staples,plaster dust-no damage whatsover to its huge metal fan.Was so amusing to both of us-a coiled,mangled peice of 6 in romex was in the bag after going thru the fan--wondered what that loud noise was!!My Pig worked better than his Craftsman shop vac for the cleanup!And the Pig liked the conduit box knockout slugs,too!Folded them right over!

A bonus the machine pictured has the blue "Horse" logo bag-better than the black "Orbit" logo.No clamp-this must be a zipper top bag that uses the paper disposable ones.Less messy.

I keep my NSS M-1 in my bedroom by the door! LOL its one of my absolute favorites, been fascinated with them since before preschool. Here's mine being used at my aunt and uncles house.

Thanks to my friend Dean at DMP Motors he was able to find me the hose coupler for my pig at a good price, it should be here in a couple of days.

This is another little guy I picked up with the pig, it's a Nilfisk GS80 that came from New Hampshire, from the wat it looks it lost a fight against a flood because all the filter were bad and the lower tank is severely corroded and it also did not run but that was because the pressure switch in the motor was smashed up. This vacuum needs a lot of TLC but I can't afford to do a whole lot with it because the parts are extremely expensive but I do like it a lot.

Along with Kirbys and Royals Pigs are a loyal favorite of mine-have a herd of 4 now.Only one has had any service-my original I bought from Daycon Janitorial Products almost 40 yrs ago.Replaced the motor brushes and bearings-otherwise its orig.That was the one that "fed" during that remodel job.Fan just fine!!!The Nilfisk GS80 is another favorite canister along with the Pig-in fact one of my Pigs sits by the Nilfisk.Found the Nilfisk in the Kirby mans trade in pile in his van.
Swimming pools---there is a Kirby 500 series machine that was at Forestville,Kirby-a Kirby dealer that was in the Wash DC area.The poor machine-bag bleached and torn.Fan-almost all of the blades broken on it.Many dents and cracks in the fancase.Emptor corroded-but it could still run-noisey-but motor would run.The Dealer saved it for WHAT NOT to use your Kirby for-it was used to try to remove the gravel and debris from the bottom of a drained pool-The water bleached the bag from the chlorine-and weakened it.Wonder the user didn't get electrocuted.The Forestville Kirby dealer also liked to do "tricks" with the Kirbys-he demoed using the motor as a gyroscope!Worked well!And in the blower mode-the blowing beach ball trick-like what Lux and others did.Bought a few used ones from him.

My boss told me that his dad used an old Kirby trade In as a water pump to pump out water from his next-door neighbor aboveground swimming pool. I think the way the fan was designed as long as the fan Was turning water will be deflected away from the bearing but if the fan stops while pumping that is when water will affect the motor.
