I was perusing one of my favourite thrift stores. I looked at where they keep their vacuums. I picked up a hard floor tool that appeared to be a Henry one, but was just some cheap knock off.
Severely beat up Electrolux? Yep. Eureka Walmart vac? Yep. I looked to my left and said out loud "No ******* way." It was a spotless Rainbow D3! I was scared to look at what the price was. $20. There was absolutely no way I could believe it ended up in a thrift store. The power nozzle and beater bar are almost perfect. Both hoses have the true colour from when they were sold. The only attachment ever used was the brush. In fact, the only thing I need to do to this machine is clean the water basin. Oh, and do I need to say that the included Power Nozzle box isn't a nice gift? Unfortunately my dog tripped me while bringing the box in the house and I fell and dropped it so one side of the flap ripped. But oh well. It's still pretty great. I think the story goes like this: A grandmother bought a Rainbow in the 1980's after owning a Rexair machine in the past. She took very good care of it (the latches feel brand new) for the short time she had it. Most likely less than 5 years. Once she died, her family took her dirty old vacuum and put it in the basement or attic. 20 years later while they were cleaning out their attic they found a dusty, grimy old vac from grandma and thought the best place for it was the thrift store. |
