So recently on QVC they were running a special on the Dyson DC65 upright with a whole slew of added attachments. They also had two "exclusive" colors my mom bought me one as a surprise and to make it better she got me the red one which looks really cool. So when I got it all set up I decided to give it a quick run and first impressions were good. I will use it for a few weeks to see how it compares to my Kirby G4 but from just using it in my honest opinion it seems like a fairly good vacuum.

The ball

I see no true difference with the fact that it pivots on a ball I still vacuum as normal forwards and backwards and the exhaust gets hot like severely hot I've never had any other vacuum I own get as hot as this

That is a fine-looking Dyson in red!

Dyson usually sells three variants of the DC65: the Multi Floor (silver), Animal (purple) and Animal Complete (bright pink). Of the DC65 models, only the top portion of the cyclone assembly (where the inner cyclones are) has a different color. The rest of the machine has purple and red accents.

As for the hot exhaust, it's completely normal. Regardless of which vacuum you have, you will notice that the exhaust is hot.

I had a DC65, and really liked it! It's definitely my favorite current Dyson upright. Congrats! Looks like your machine came bundled with 3 funky new tools. Have you had a chance to use them yet? If so, what do you think of them?

I love the DC65. Yes, the exhaust is hot. It's a very high speed motor, much higher than the Electrolux upright. Keep your filters clean and you'll be fine. I really like how well the DC65 deep cleans, it is a definite improvement over the DC41. Congratulations and Enjoy your new Dyson.

The attachments

Are great the carbon fiber dusting brush is by far my favorite we have a set of wood stairs in my house and it makes cleaning them a breeze as far as deep cleaning goes it is amazing I have tried a dyson before and wasn't to impressed but the DC65 blows me away

My Grandmother

Really likes it and now just a dyson in general any suggestions ?? I was thinking finding her a refurbished dyson particularly a DC 07 or one of the early ball uprights.

Your grandmother should get the best!

This is brand new technology, you should get your grandmother a new one with new technology. Not a old one, at least get it new instead of refurbished. Not trying to be mean just suggesting.;) :)

You're right!!

I have since discovered that qvc is running a special on the dc41 multi surface which would be prefect for her!! While it's not the newest from what I can tell it's the same cleaner so I'll see about getting that, If someone whose more familiar with dyson can tell me the differences I would appreciate it. I feel that the dc41 would be a improvement over Hoover Mach 6 which is on it's last leg.

Here's a link to that special
