So excited I found a power drive Dam Hoover model 1178 at my flea market for only $5. It was so so filthy but I gave it a bath stripped the base and repainted and clear coated it since the powdercoat paint was all pealed. Then replaced the brushroll new old stock and also both filters new head light bulb and belts and she is good as new. I do not know how to service the motor but I am positive it was done a couple of years ago since there was a service sticker on the hood.

My mom had one like this when I was a kid from her childhood. It got tossed though because something on it broke but I don't remember what.

Your HOOVER collection is growing nicely. Great restoration, too. How are things?

That is really beautiful. Painting them too. Wow! Where do you find paints to match the originals? Do you have to have them color matched and mixed? Do you spray them with an airbrush, automotive air gun or do you just have that refined touch with a rattle can? Again, beautiful restoration.
