Basically Hurricane, Smart uprights & cylinder PLUS other existing named vacs re-jigged for the new EU law.

Re-named Hurricane/Smart/Whatever to the name of "Blaze" (what an unfortunate name IMHO) and both bagless cyclonic (Not, NLOS but the old paper pleated jobs behind mesh filters) carry 700 watt motors. These are also on Argos website but fail to state the motor power.

Also shown is a Curve model with 700 watt motor.

Also it would appear the Sonix cylinder vac has had a name and paint change to "Hurricane" and
"Hurricane" 700 watt bagless upright.

Those Smart/Blaze cylinders were naff enough as it was with 2200w motors lol.

Therein lies my early fears regarding EU law changes - that some brands aren't redesigning far enough. It is not the end of paper pleated filters as we know them, sadly.

They'll always be demand for cheap vacs, sadly. There always has been.

Having said that, I'd rather use a Goblin Laser than one of these :P

Its a pity Hoover haven't released a 700 watt bagged upright yet, though I'm sure there will in time. I wonder if it would make the Purepower less noisy and not as heavy? It might be a better seller for them than the others.

I don't know the wattage of the new Purepower uprights, but the Argos website shows the red and white model as being heavier than the high wattage version. The old version is 6.9kg and the new one is 7.3kg. The noise level of the lower wattage machine is stated as 89db, so I think a lighter, quieter Purepower may be some way off.

I suspect either the specs are wrong (witness the new Miele C3/S8 in grey with 1200 AIR WATTS lol) or the new floor head could have a new chassis similar to the one quoted in the photos of the Hoover Blaze upright.

Or it could just have the turbo tool attached to it - this appears to be the same weight for the Silver and black Enigma upright with the turbo tool and one without it is back down to 6.8kg
